Hôtel Bella Vista

Nice little hotel a stone’s throw away from Porto’s port, a perfect location to visit Calanques de Piana. The room was big and bright and came with a big terrasse to soak up the sun.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Bella Vista at the end of May during a driving tour around the island. We loved the mountain view from our room (which was a standard room not a larger superior room) which was sufficient for us. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed including good shower. Unlike the previous reviewer we had no issues with the aircon and no contact with reception other than checking in and checking out, which was pleasant with good English spoken. Agree its a bit of a slog with cases from the car park below the hotel up to the rooms, up steps to reception and then a steep set of stairs to the floor above, but we were aware there was no lift before we arrived and it's good exercise!! As with most hotels in Corsica, the breakfast buffet was a set rate per person (from memory, 14 euros) and it was fine, but to keep our costs down, on the second morning we popped down to the boulangerie half way down to the port and ate pastries and drank hot drinks there (they have a few outside tables). This was more economical for us as we were trying to budget. The hotel is located on the left of the road into Porto when coming from the direction of Calvi. The road is fairly main but was quiet at night and we didn't notice traffic noise. To note that this hotel is not really a viable walking distance away from the port/harbour where most of the restaurants are, both due to distance and steepness of the gradient between the two, but it's only a few minutes drive. We didn't try the restaurant directly across from the hotel as the menu looked rather too fancy for our tastes. We enjoyed dinners at Le Palmier and La Mer down by the water, and there is a huge amount of parking at the bottom of the road which you can use for either boat trips or when visiting restaurants. From this hotel base we took a boat tour out of Porto around to Capu Rossu and then in the other direction to the Scandola nature reserve which was good (though do check if you need an English speaking guide, we forgot to ask and chose the wrong company for this I think). We also drove up the valley behind the town which was very scenic. This hotel serves as a good when exploring this area of Corsica.

Wir haben 2 Nächte das Deluxe Zimmer mit Terrasse gebucht und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Betten sehr bequem, ruhig, da Zimmer nach hinten raus ging, süße Terrasse mit einem Blick auf die Berge und ein Stück Meer. Bett war groß und bequem, es gab sogar Verdunkelungsjalousien. Das Frühstück war für französische Verhältnisse gut und ausreichend. Es gab Wurst, Käse, harte Eier, Obst, Granola, Joghurt, Marmelade und Honig. Wanderungen gibt es einige in der Umgebung.
