This is a very good hotel in a quiet location, just outside the main part of Ortisei. We had a nice big room at the corner of the hotel with a large balcony running around the corner, which had a couple of chairs and a table. All of the staff were attentive, very friendly, very helpful, and very efficient. The four course dinner menu was very good. All of the dishes we had were tasty, nicely presented and a good size. The wine list was very good. There is a small outdoor swimming pool with good views across the valley floor to the main part of Ortisei. There is an easy downhill walk to the centre of Ortisei, but it is a steep uphill climb back. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, and buses run once an hour in the morning and after 14.30 until early evening. A taxi from the centre of Ortisei back to the hotel costs €15-20. There are nice grounds at the back of the hotel with views over the base of the valley. In nice weather, breakfast is served on a small patio. The breakfast buffet is quite extensive with a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals, etc.

We chose the Rainell as our base for five nights hiking in the Val Gardena area. It is located on the hill just outside of and overlooking the town of Ortesei with really nice views. We stayed in an Alpin suite and chose half board (breakfast and dinner included). The Rainell is a family owned and operated hotel. The owners are very involved in the day to day operations and were so lovely and helpful (like all the staff here), giving us some excellent tips for our day hikes. Our room was large, well equipped and we had a really nice view over Ortesei from our balcony. The food was excellent at the hotel. Breakfast was hearty with plenty of options to choose from and dinner was four courses plus a salad buffet.. No one goes hungry at the Rainell after a day of hiking!! The restaurant and bar staff were always there to help with recommendations. One thing to note, is that you are allocated a table in the dining room for the duration of your stay-you eat at that same table for all your meals. A big bonus for us is that the hotel has a washer and dryer for guest use which was really convenient. It is coin operated and wasn't busy at all..

We stayed at The Rainell for 4 nights and was a very enjoyable stay. It is a family run hotel and the service was professional and friendly, and we got valuable advice on the mountain hikes in the area. We took the half board option and the breakfasts and dinner were superb, as well as pre-dinner drinks outside was views up to the mountains. It is located within a short walk down to Ortisei which is a lovely village although can get busy there in high season.

We arrived last minute and staff was welcoming. Reception area is very pleasing. Stayed nights and very very comfortable bed. Clean and lots of hot water in the shower. 4/ 6 pm daily serves free cake and strudel. Breakfast is certainly ample and servers are excellent. Rated this is 4 rather than a 5 for minor things: no tea, coffee maker in the room … Which is important to us to get the motor running in the morning! Also, no nightstands or bedside tables which we found inconvenient as phone chargers, were away from the head of the bed.

5 night stay while hiking in the area. Excellent stay, great accommodation, plenty of facilities including indoor / outdoor pool, wellness room, sauna and gym. Breakfast & dinner exceptional variety & quality and all the staff from the front desk, restaurant, bar and housekeeping so polite, friendly & helpful. Close to all facilities in Ortisei even if the climb back up from town is steep and challenging. Plenty of parking space at the hotel. Would not hesitate to stay here again

Our family of three enjoyed a wonderful four night stay at the Rainell in early June. This small, family run hotel is comfortable yet elegant with many special touches and attention to detail. The food was exceptionally good, with varied and creative options (including vegetarian) and always featuring some authentic local favorites. Our server, Yvonne, was top notch in every way. Our ten year old daughter especially enjoyed the trampoline with incredible views of Ortisei, and the pool with new sauna and relaxation areas were a great place to unwind after exploring the area. Highly recommend this unique hotel.

We stayed 3 nights at this cute hotel, located near the center of Ortisei with half board. The location is great, since it’s very near to the cable car to the Alpi di Suisi. You can either walk into town, or park your car at the parking lot of the cable car and from there venture into town. The service was great! But the food was Michelin star quality!!! Every night we had a 4 course meal, and every dish was more amazing than the next!! We’re planning to go back there in the winter!! Amazing hotel!

We stayed in 2 rooms with 4 adults for 5 nights for a hiking holiday. Family Mahlknecht and team are just perfect. So kind and always willing to help. Thanks to Daniela (reception) we have been able to make to most beautiful hikes in the area (she's a very kind local expert!). And thanks to Yvonne, Willy, Patricia and Gaby, the breakfast/dinner/after dinner were a real pleasure, every day! The location is great (next to the cable car and in the city center), the hotel is very nice, the meals were excellent (compliments for the chef!) with great wines, the rooms are very nice and the wellness (swimming pool, sauna and garden) was super. Also the mountains and cities were very nice. A real recommendation for more visits!

A toute l'équipe du Rainell Hotel, Nous tenons sincèrement à vous remercier du chaleureux accueil et du service impeccable lors de notre séjour de 10 nuits dans votre établissement. Tout le personnel de l'hôtel, du restaurant, au housekeeping et à la réception est exceptionnel. Ils ont toujours été très attentifs à nos besoins et ont fait preuve de grand professionnalisme. Grâce à leur gentillesse ainsi qu'à la qualité et la variété des repas, très raffinés, nous avons passé d'excellents moments. Pendant notre séjour de 10 jours, nous n'avons jamais mangé le même plat. Nous avons également particulièrement apprécié les conseils du patron, Georg, concernant les randonnées, il connaît tous les chemins de la région sur le pouce! Sa grande disponibilité, sa gentillesse et son efficacité sont remarquables. Les chambres sont immaculées et nettoyées chaque jour avec grand soin par du personnel extrêmement sympathique. Rien n'est impossible pour rendre les clients heureux! Un grand merci à toute l'équipe, nous recommandons votre établissement les yeux fermés!
