"Used this as an overnight stop during a cycling adventure. The rooms are basic, but the essentials are all there and the bed was very comfortable. It’s located next to a service area with a Burger King, Greggs, and a well-stocked petrol station shop. Expect a little road noise given the location, but it wasn't a dealbreaker."

"We were very disappointed with our dinner here. We have been here before and enjoyed a drink in the lovely garden, so we were kean to have dinner there. After a crazy week and a weekend of being away working, we thought it was a good time to try it. After receiving an up and down look from the older server upon arrival, you would have thought we showed up topless. From there my husbands beer arrived flat and I ordered the 10oz steak with mustard fries. At £34 I expected a higher standard, of the steak and the mustard fries blows my mind (not in a good way) I am currently typing this review wirh full on hearburn because of the mustard fries (I also love mustard btw). I am two ant-acid pills down and drinking a peppermint tea. The mustard fries consist of nice fries with loads of mustard powder dumped all over them, ground breaking. I told the lovely server that they weren’t working and horrible and he said Thanks for the feedback & that he needs to try them. I then went to pay my £100 plus bill & continued discussing how horrible the mustard fries were and that they don’t work. In comes the older judgy server from earlier, she does a patronising smile and says “so they weren’t to your taste”, thanks hun, I’d like to know who’s taste they are to?! I then paid my bill with no offer of a discount or a drink on the house, when I was clearly disappointed with my meal. My husband later walked in the front room and saw a family leaving with Mrs Judgy profusely apologising to them. Funny she never apologised to us."

"We stayed here as it was a short walk from my friend’s remote location we were visiting for the wkd. In a unique village, the farmhouse has stayed loyal to its character and traditions. The double room was impeccable, the hospitality was warm and stood-out as a highlight. Both Nicky & Kevin were fascinating and very nearly became the highlights of the wkd ahead of the ‘end of summer’ celebrations we visited for! We were welcomed into the local traditions and enjoyed their lovely accommodation that focused, not just on Dartmoor/Devon but very much the village of Sampford Courtenay past and present. We both enjoyed breakfasts made predominantly from local produce - this was especially impressive. Personally, I look forward to freshly cocked breakfasts while I’m away from home - I feel I should state that I had two of, if not the best dishes to date; the cooking was perfect from every aspect. It tasted incredible. We regretted not strolling through the garden visiting the chickens that laid such fine eggs. However, the whole experience is unforgettable. A truly great stay in a very old building that had all the comforts you could wish for. A real 5⭐️"
