This is a great hotel still run by a family. All the staff very pleasant and so helpful. Our room was large and spotlessly clean. Quiet at night but we were on the top floor. Wonderful facilities. Beautiful pool and nice spa. The hotel is welcoming to children and has a really great nursery in the basement for children. There is an early sitting for supper for kids. May I add I didn’t feel the hotel was over run with noisy children but we went in term time. Above all you can ski and ski out. The locker room is good. The most important thing to comment on as well as the staff is the food. Everything totally delicious. Great chefs. Wonderful food and food was served in the afternoon as a snack when returning from skiing. This is the nicest hotel we have stayed in for skiing and if we ever ski again we will definitely return. A well run hotel. We went with a one year old and the staff were very sweet towards her and kind to me being a non skier and child carer!!

A late decision to go for a few days skiing led to our 4 night stay in a 2 bedroom superior apartment at the Alpenland. The accomodation was clean, modern, very comfortable and perfect for what we needed. The staff at reception were extremely helpful pre arrival and also on the day of check in - thank you. The hotel's location is piste side with the ski room literally 10 paces from the ski slope. The only negative we encountered was the one night we ate dinner at the hotel - it was easily the poorest meal anywhere of our short stay. It was also VERY disappointing to see the hotel policy is to charge almost 6 EURO for a carafe of TAP water - nowhere else at dinner, nor lunch up the mountain did we encounter this. Consequently we didn't leave a service charge - which is of course unfair on the wait staff - but I fail to understand such a policy? Anyway, beyond that we had an excellent stay, and should we wish to stay in an apartment again when in Obergurgl , we would definitely return.

We stayed here for a week for a great skiing holiday late January 2023. The hotels location allows skiing pretty much to the door and ski storage was excellent. Staying on a half board basis the meals were well prepared, plentiful and tasty. Breakfast had fresh fruits, cereals, many breads, continental meats and cheese as well as a hot selection of Bacon and Sausages etc and delicious pastries and coffee to finish. Evening meals usually 3 course plus salad buffet were chosen each breakfast time and were available I believe between 6:30 - 8pm. We had some very tasty meals featuring some local dishes (and lots of cheese). Our room was spacious and very clean and comfortable but on the cool side in temperature at some points. Walking into the village centre is down a steep bank that might be challenging for some but shuttles from ski shop (Lohmann ski hire were great and allowed us to leave skis in storage room when we were finished with them so no hassle on last day) Overall and very friendly hotel with warm welcoming staff that were always willing to help I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return here myself. Thank you

The hotel has been redecorated since our first visit and the lounge/bar area is quite contemporary whilst still having a genuine Austrian feel. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The restaurant is excellent with a fabulous choice for breakfast and dinner. It is truly a ski-in/ski-out hotel. Excellent boot/ski storage area. Boots always nice and toasty at the beginning of the day. We like it so much we're off there again next year.

We had a fabulous week at the Alpenland Hotel in Obergurgl. The food far exceeded our expectations of a half-board hotel - full marks to the chef for creating evening menus that balance Tirol tradition with really innovative ideas, all perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The breakfast buffet was also exceptional in terms of choice and quality. Our bedroom was very comfortable and spacious (lovely big bathroom). The hotel was immaculately clean throughout (including in the very well-appointed spa area). Excellent ski locker room with access to the piste just a few metres from the door. And final words of praise must go to the waiting and housekeeping staff, who were all absolutely charming, helpful and super efficient. We also loved the way that the 'daily newsletter' shared interesting insights into the Tirol region and its traditions. All in all, an excellent hotel and one that we would definitely like to return to.

We had an excellent stay here just before Christmas. The location is great with very easy access to the slopes, just meters away from the boot room. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and as a result I have given a 5 star rating despite the slight niggle over their policy of charging for water. A trip to the Nedderhutte for a few beers and the fab live music is an essential part of this location.

Positives + The Hotel is in a great location - easy to ski in and out and close to two of the main gondola's that take you up high into the mountains. Obergurgl on the whole was a superb resort for skiing & friendliness and I'd recommend it to anyone. + The food is really delicious - plenty of choice for breakfast, including fresh pastries and Julius Meinl coffee on tap. The evening menu changes daily and was amazing each night. The only negative thing to say about the food is that you are asked to make your evening meal choices during breakfast. It's not nice to have to think about eating beef at 8am ... Negatives - Our Junior Suite felt dated and was missing some of the basic amenities that you would expect to find in a 4* hotel room - a bath, but no bubble bath to put in it (and reception wouldn't provide us with any when we asked), no robes, and no slippers. We later found out that you are charged 3EUR to hire these. - The main disappointment though was the attitude of the hotel manager. Every staff member that we spoke to was delightful, but the lady manager was absolutely awful. Drinks do not come included in Half Board, so one night, we just asked for tap water with dinner. The next day, we were presented with a bill for 9EUR60, for 2x jugs of 'Service Water'. Naturally we questioned this with the waiter and were told to speak with the manager. The manager (lady) was so incredibly rude, confrontational, abrupt and just generally awful in her response, it was shocking. She should not work in hospitality. Rather than apologise for the confusion, and give us a calm explanation (all we were after), she was immediately combative, raising her voice to tell us first that the water was special alpine water and better than anything in a bottle so that's why they charge for it; then that she pays for tap water all over Europe and has never received water for free and started looking down her nose saying 'well clearly you don't visit the sorts of places that I visit'; and then changed her tune, saying that it's the service that costs 4EUR80 per jug, not the water. We kept just trying to explain that the only reason we questioned it in the first place was because in England, tap water is free, so we just wanted to make sure that we hadn't been charged by mistake, but she wouldnt listen and just kept raising her voice to talk over us. It was so rude and really put a sour taste in our mouths for the rest of the day. Overall it is a shame that the week was spoilt by the manager and some small issues with the room, as the rest of the resort and hotel location are excellent.
