Ticuchi Hostal

My friends and I had an amazing experience at Ticuchi! The location is perfectly situated near all Oaxaca's highlights as well as plenty of restaurants, taquerías, bars and clubs. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. After dropping our lugage, we immediately engaged with the other guests at the bar and the swimming pool. The atmosphere is very laid back and consists of travelers from all around the world looking to have a good time. To ensure that, Ticuchi organises several tours and trips every day as well as some kind of party every night, which we happily attended. Even though we only stayed for 3 days, we felt like we've known the other travelers for ages. The rooms and utilities aren't the most luxurious, but good value. Besides, these are not what the kind of traveler staying at a hostel like Ticuchi should be looking for anyway. We would 100 % recommend Ticuchi and wouldn't hesitate one bit to come back if we would be in Oaxaca again.

*BEWARE* We went out one day and upon our return, I found that a large sum of cash and jewellery had been stolen from my locker. It was confirmed by the hostel manager later on, that their cleaner broke into my locker and stole over $500 worth of cash and sentimental jewellery. Ticuchi are not taking any responsibility for this and have barely even offered an apology. UPDATE The manager (Pablo) agreed to reimburse me for the stolen items but has since gone silent and is now ignoring all messages and emails. Avoid this place at all costs - they are corrupt from the top down.
