I called ahead to request a quiet room and reminded the front desk again at check-in. Still, we were placed directly across from the gym, and the loud slamming of the gym door made it impossible to rest. After a long day of travel, I had to return to the front desk and request a room change—hauling two large suitcases with me. This should have been completely avoidable. In addition, there was a very strong smell of kitchen fumes throughout the hallway, even though our room was located far from the restaurant on the first floor. The odor was so intense it woke me up before 7 a.m., shortly after the restaurant opened at 6. We also called to request housekeeping and specifically asked for the floor to be vacuumed. When we got back later that day, it was obvious the room had not been vacuumed at all. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay—especially from a hotel under the Marriott brand. The service and attention to detail were far below the standards I’ve consistently experienced at other Marriott properties.
