Champneys Springs

Before getting into my review, I’d like to point out that I have tried to contact Champney’s on multiple occasions about the following and am yet to hear back, apart from the generic “we’re looking in to this for you”. Well I’ve waited long enough (original email sent 6th March). I have been courteous enough to remove staff names but I’m sick of waiting any longer. So as I said in my last email, I am now taking this public: I recently stayed at Champneys Springs with my fiancé for our 'babymoon' and have some feedback/complaints to bring to your attention. Some of the issues were mentioned during our stay but I would like to raise further issues since returning home. Also to make you aware I have reported the following via the feedback form that is sent out but I want to make sure this is dealt with and not ignored. To begin with, I would like to say that my fiancé and I don't often go away and we particularly don't like to complain or cause issues whenever we do get a break together. Usually, if anything is wrong we would take it on the chin and move on. But in this instance, I feel like it needs addressing to the highest level. We began our stay with you on Sunday 2nd March where we were greeted very warmly and politely by reception and shown to the direction of our room (room 60). We got in and had a look around to immediately notice how run down and outdated the decor was, especially the bathroom facilities. The tile sealant had mould and the shower curtain looked like it had seen better days. The shower itself was difficult to use and quite hard to turn the temperature down as there was a piece of the handle missing. Also the rim of the sink was absolutely foul which was only visible from sitting on the loo, but once you saw it you couldn't not look at it. The bed was comfy enough but it would have been nice to have the option of extra pillows in the wardrobe as I'm heavily pregnant and therefore find it difficult to sleep unless I'm propped up. Also, there was no hanging space in the bed/bathroom, apart from one hook on the back of the door so it was difficult to dry things properly such as towels, swimwear and our robes. So all of this was noticed quite quickly but as we had booked through Vitality and paid less than full price we thought we would bite the bullet and ignore it as we didn't feel like we had the right to say anything compared to someone that had paid full price. However, our stay did not improve. The food we received throughout the stay felt like it had been thrown together in a 'tick box' exercise to be healthy but without any real passion from a chef. The breakfast buffet consisted of watery unseasoned eggs and a toaster that took that long to toast your bread you could have been for a swim and steam by the time it was done - not to mention the dangerous plugs/extension leads hanging down causing a tripping hazard. As a regular client of 15 years plus my experience was, as ever, second to none. This is my first ever review.It was prompted by the exceptional service and kindness of Massimo in the restaurant who asked Matt, the chef, to craft a bespoke meal for me based upon my dietary needs, purely on his own initiative. Visiting Champneys Spring to celebrate my Mums birthday. Wonderful surroundings in a very calm environment. The food is amazing lots of variety, with vegan options.The most amazing aromatherapy full body massage, with Amy one of the senior therapist 🩷

Lovely welcome and beautiful spa, even the driveway was impressive! Changing rooms small but spacious enough, only a few private cubicles but ok if a little busy at the end of the day spa, showers were powerful. Great to have women only sauna & steam room as well as a bigger sauna off the pool. Hydrotherapy pool with powerful jets. Spacious and well equipt gym. Excellent service at lunch, from Catrina, my intolerances were catered for and she even made up a gluten and dairy free pudding! Lots of outside space & seating - perfect for a sunny afternoon in March. Overall a great value and luxurious spa, only dropped down to 4 stars rather than 5 as the shops were closing as we left at 6 which was a shame as we would have purchased from the concessions.

My first of a three night stay in Springs, Champneys. I contacted the resort and spoke to the Manager to say I would be arriving to celebrate my 65th birthday. Not only was I upgraded to a lovely room on arrival, I was also met with a very tasty melody of little cakes set on a chocolate birthday message. I was thrilled and very touched. I have visited Champneys for the past 25 years and each and every visit is wonderful. I am 5 hours in to my visit and fully relaxed, chilled and looking forward to the next few days. A wonderful resort filled with the most welcoming and helpful of staff and set in the beautiful countryside of Leicestershire. My friends who I introduced to Champneys many years ago, are devotees too! Thank you Springs.
