We chose this place as we were around the Mkuze neighbourhood and wanted a stop to get over our jet lag. We stayed for 4 nights (8 game drives) upon our arrival into Richard’s Bay from Johannesburg and the lodge arrange a land transfer from RB to Rhino River lodge. The lodge and rooms were well maintained. The layout was efficient and spacious. All the staff were awesome and our guide (Garett), was great at sightings and knew what his guests wanted even wildlife photographers like us. There was no rush or time constraints on his part. Highly recommended. The meals though simple were sufficient. The staff at the dining hall were super friendly and helpful. Though this is quite a big reserve shared by about 10 lodges, the vehicle traffic was minimal but the wildlife was abundant. The only thing we did not get to see was leopard and elephants (as the reserve try to minimize vegetation damage). This is our 6 safari (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt) to most of the African continent. I highly recommend Rhino River if this is your first safari or if you near this neighborhood. Superior lodge and value for money.
