Stayed here for one night bed, breakfast and evening meal. What a great place. Food is exceptional and the rooms are top quality. The staff are excellent. Congratulations to the owners of this family run business on the vibe and friendliness of everyone. The standard of finish in the rooms is top notch and well worthy of a 5 star review. The restaurant does get very busy but service was quick and efficient.

In a beautiful setting with lovely spacious rooms. High level of cleanliness and a great shower. Love the old windows with their shutters. Nice touch of homemade shortbread and a cute stag wine stopper to take home. Plusses: - huge comfy bed - decent pillow choice! - lots of space - great views (Whitney Neil room) - really very very clean! - great location Be Aware: - steep staircase access, not for those with mobility concerns - bathroom ‘waterworks’ are pretty noisy - road is noisy from around 6am Didn’t rate the brekky. Not a busy service but it wasn’t piping hot food. The toast and butter were served on the same plate as the food and made soggy by tinned tomatoes. Poor quality thin bread (see pics) toast not really toasted. Could also do with more than just one hot drink too. One went back barely touched, chef didn’t query - find that very unusual. Shame really as the meal the previous evening was wonderful and had us excited for a cracking start to the day.

Stayed for a Saturday night on a bed, breakfast and evening meal package. We had the Whitley Neil room which is dual aspect, I was anticipating a lot of noise due to proximity to the road and the pub seating area to the front but surprisingly we heard very little noise. I have stayed in 5* accommodation in UK and abroad and the value for money in the room was excellent, simply everything you would want/need even down to a corkscrew! Beds, bedding and pillows were also top quality. The drinks are reasonably priced as is the food which was excellent and good portion size, we had lunch along with the dinner and breakfast. The staff were friendly, attentive and provided excellent service. Not surprising it was busy from when we arrived at 12 noon to when we retired to the room at 9pm. Definitely worth our 4 hour round trip!

We got a great Travel Zoo deal for this pub. Everything about it was first class. The bedroom was superbly decorated and equipped to the very best standard. The food in the AA starred restaurant was outstanding - evening meal and breakfast were both superb. Super helpful and friendly staff. easy parking, good W-fi connection, great range of drinks and happy hour deals on cocktails. In a lovely little village.

Chosen for the previous reviews, Nice comfortable room with a coffee machine, Helpful staff, Great food both evening and breakfast. What more do you need? The car park was a bit tight for space. Nice area to walk, if you don't forget your boots like I did!

Great pub, exceptionally clean, comfortable and modern rooms and super friendly staff. As a bonus, the food is of a very high standard and the Guinness was decent. Can’t fault this place in any way, stopped here to be in the area for the snooker at the Crucible in Sheffield, it was a 20 minute taxi ride from here to Sheffield Town Centre. As Arnie said….. I’ll be back 😂

Beautiful hotel, immaculately clean, friendly staff and great food! We will definitely visit again and recommend to friends. From the moment we were greeted as we walked in, the staff were all outstanding. Our room was lovely, will extra little touches such as fresh milk in the fridge. We had only intended to eat in the restaurant the first night, but enjoyed it so much we ate there the second night too.

We've just returned from another fabulous 3 nights here. As always we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff we met. All the staff are fabulous and the new team members we met, on this occasion, were as friendly and helpful as the longer serving staff. Our room was, again, very comfortable, well furnished and spotlessly clean (thank you to housekeepers Lillie and Dee). The rooms are well equipped with mini fridge (containing fresh milk), tea and coffee (including coffee machine), robes & slippers and all the toiletries (and more) you might expect in a top class establishment. The breakfasts are first class and we also always have dinner here - it's such a treat. We visit on a regular basis and are never disappointed.

The Devonshire is perfectly located in the hills around Chesterfield. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed rooms with comfy beds and super quiet with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Dining options in the pub restaurant were vast and the food delicious with a really friendly team. Final bonus - REAL MILK provided in the fridge for proper morning coffee. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you team Devonshire.
