Center Parcs Les Trois Forêts

We had a good experience at Les Trois Forets. The park is really large but despite this well maintained (better than Center Parc village naturel near Paris, for example). There were quite a lot of bluebottle flies around, but surprisingly no biting insects - first holiday in ages I haven’t been bitten! We liked the Aqua Mundo and the playground near the Centre had a nice creperie, big soft play area and the farm next door. We enjoyed cycling and walking too - some nice easy forest routes although there are some long hill routes outside the forests, be warned! The pool area inevitably gets very busy but we still enjoyed it. The free water buoyancy jackets for little kids were handy. The other main soft play on the far side of the park had a nice cafe with outdoor seating, but generally I’d say the soft play is better for younger kids. We were extremely glad we situated ourselves near the centre with our small children. We took the hints from previous reviews and paid an extra eur59 to reserve a VIP 3 bedroom cottage (no.470) near the Aqua Mundo and the kids farm/playground. This meant we didn’t need to hire an electric car. In our experience, the reviewers saying there are “electric cars everywhere” are massively exaggerating. We didn’t see any children driving them either! There are a few busy junctions but everyone is careful. We felt confident taking our young kids scootering and cycling round the paths. The accommodation was really nice - although hard to keep cool (we were blessed with hot sunshine every day. Pillows were bizarrely very lumpy - and for some reason we only had one small toilet roll in one of the bathroom (for six people for a week this seems a bit stingy!) -these were my only complaints about the accommodation. Wi-Fi excellent. The little carrefour express in the Centre was well stocked, and bread and water are reasonably priced. For better prices inevitably you need to head offsite to a local supermarket.

We have to stayed in many Center Parcs across Europe and I must say I was expecting more from Trois Forests. Positives - exclusive cottages were clean and spacious - staff at reception were nice Negatives - too many electric buggies that are being driving quickly and often with kids at the wheel. - Aqua Mundo was closed on our first day, no offer of compensation as of yet. - The rapids were closed and we were only offered 100 euros of vouchers and were told only a few months before. - Aqua Mundo was way too busy to be enjoyable- people should have to book a slot . - we booked the high ropes activity and the staff were completely unprofessional ( chatting and distracted whilst putting on the harnesses and one of them shouted at my child in an arrogant way- they were not monitoring the activity well at all) .

As always we liked our experience here, though there are things to consider before coming... It is so big they have a bus service and many people hire golf carts- sounds great but we hired bikes and spent most of our time looking over our shoulders. The pool is good though the rapids were shut when we went and was not made aware before, customer services have since done well to rectify. You can ride ponies and have a mini farm for kids, there is an astro pitch which gets busy. A good centre parcs, though we won't return we will still visit centre parcs.

We loved this place. The natural environment is soothing while the heart of the premise is teeming with life. The staff are kind, they offer a wide range of activities ("accrobranche", zip line, canoeing, mini-golf, swimming pool, SPA with massages...). We enjoyed everything, but found that the VR experience was a bit expensive (€30 per person for 20 minutes. Disclaimer: we don't know the prices elsewhere.) Depending on your budget, you might want to prioritise free activities. The buffet was rich and varied (the food for children under four is free). The VIP cottage that we booked was really comfortable, including, among other things, a whirlpool bath and a sauna. Thank you for these wonderful holidays!

We took the VIP cottage which was well equipped inside and tastefully decorated. The sauna in the bathroom and jacuzzi bath was a particular highlight. There were two glaring issues however. The first was that there is no Air-conditioning! This is discussed extensively however really it cannot be stressed enough - BRING A FAN FOR EACH BEDROOM. Otherwise in Anything over 20 degrees outside the cottage will be very stuffy during the evening. When we asked about this they basically told me to close the blinds during the day and open all the windows at night, which just feels like it shouldn't be a conversation you have after paying 1000euros plus for a 3 day holiday. In terms if activities there was certainly plenty of choice but most of the "interesting" activities including pony rides for kids, archery, rock climbing, and even an outdoor parcour course had to be paid for and booked in advance and not for discount prices. It really feels that they should do an all- inclusive package. Be careful, these activities soon add up price wise! We decided to do the family Spa day (over 100 euros in total for 2 adults + 2 kids). For that price you would expect a spa day would include at the very least complimentary towels/robes to be used in the facility. We actually assumed this and left our towels in the locker. Despite there being a cupboard full of towels immediately in front of me the attendant told me i could noy take one myself, and made me stand there at the door for 15 minutes (as she was going to get me one in exchange for my bracelet as a deposit). She just stood there at the door instead not moving... truly baffling. In the end I went and got our own towels from the lockers, much to her amusement.... One last thing the interactive map in the app doesn't show the user current location which isn't super helpful. The layout of the park makes it quite easy to get lost when you are first wandering around. On that note the golf buggy you can rent is absolutely essential. The distance from the cottage to the "centre" matched with a 25 degrees weather necessitates that.

I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Les Trois Forêts. Having previously stayed at a Center Parcs in the UK and had an amazing time, we were excited to try a new location in France. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. Positives Lodges: The lodges were clean and of a nice size, which was appreciated. Negatives Expense: The prices were extremely high. For instance, over 5 euros for a Coke or Sprite is ridiculous. While we expected it to be pricey, having visited a Center Parcs in the UK, this made the UK prices seem reasonable in comparison. Rude Staff: The staff were consistently rude. For example, we waited over 30 minutes for drinks at a bar. When we politely asked about our order, the waitress snapped, "We are incredibly busy, it will be with you when it will be with you," even though it wasn’t busy. Expensive Arcades and Games: The arcades were also overpriced. The "credits" system hides the true cost. We calculated the pool table cost around £4 - £5 per game. The arcade closes at 7 pm, but the prize collection stops at 6:30 pm. We arrived at 6:45 pm on our last day, having saved arcade tickets all week, only to be turned away. The staff told us the card is valid for a year, which didn’t help our upset son at all. Limited Activities: After doing the pool, mini-golf, canoeing, and climbing, there wasn't much else. By the end of our week, we were definitely ready to leave. In comparison, the UK location offered far more activities. Lack of Amenities: There was no oven or air conditioning in our accommodation. The weather was hot during our visit, making it uncomfortable for the children. We had to use pots or a microwave for meals unless we wanted to spend a fortune on dining out. Poor Housekeeping: Our accommodation package included fresh sheet changes throughout the week, yet we had the same sheets all week. Limited Spa Access: We booked a spa session for 3:30 pm and arrived early to enjoy the pool, only to find it closed. The pool is only open from 3 pm to 5 pm and then 7 pm to 9 pm, so we missed out on additional spa time. These are just some of the negatives I can remember. Conclusion Overall, communication regarding opening times and event locations was poor. The staff were rude throughout our stay, and there were limited activities coupled with very high costs. I would recommend giving this place a miss!
