I recently stayed at Mama Shelter and unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations, especially given the high rate of over 700€ per night. Despite the hotel being newly opened, there were several issues that really soured our stay. First, my loyalty membership wasn’t acknowledged at check-in, which was frustrating after having been loyal to the brand. My boyfriend, who arrived right after me, wasn’t greeted by the staff at all, which set a bad tone from the start. We booked the Big Mama Double Room expecting a spacious and comfortable space, but the room was cramped and basic amenities like shampoo and beach towels were missing. The AirPlay feature on the TV didn’t work, and our pre-arrival requests were ignored entirely. When we tried to enjoy the rooftop bar but We were left waiting for management to assist with applying the disloyalty membership discount, which the staff seemed incapable of handling. Service throughout the hotel was lacking, with no one offering to help with our luggage, and staff seemed overwhelmed and poorly trained overall. However, one staff member stood out—a kind hostess on the night of September 4th, who helped us get dinner delivered to our room. She was professional and friendly, a rare bright spot during our stay. Breakfast was another disappointment. I witnessed a staff member handling bacon with her bare hands and telling the chef to redo it, which was shockingly unhygienic for a hotel of this caliber. On top of that, the room showed clear signs of wear, with dirty walls and a large black stain that detracted from the overall appearance. For the price and the hotel’s luxury branding, I expected much more. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Our stay was far from the quality we anticipated, especially for such a highly-priced and newly opened hotel.
