Balavil Hotel

On arrival met by manager who remembered us even though it was a year ago we stayed Food excellent especially the hot smoked salmon stall all very friendly Food clean and comfortable and breakfast great value Highly recommend this hotel well worth a visit

Food disappointing, meat in the meat pie negligible, puff pastry had no puff, brie burgers were cold as were the onion rings. Complained but the manager was not interested, in fact he was dismissive. Absolutely shocking. Advice, go elsewhere.

First time at this hotel . Definitely deserve 5 Star , accommodation superb rooms , highly trained staff , food best breakfast, service with attention to detail Excellent . Cant wait to return . Can not say any more , just excellent , excellent

Great hotel. Food really good, staff extremely friendly, bar area lovely a d whiskey collection amazing. Corridors on ground floor for bedrooms a wee bit shabby but rooms decent Overall a good base for the and I would recommend for a night to two

We visited in early April when the West Highlands had not really opened for the season. On the way home we stayed for one night in Newtonmore (and immediately wished we had planned for more). It’s a pretty village with plenty outdoors possibilities. The Balavil was quiet, so the staff had time to interact with guests, starting with James, who welcomed us like returning regulars and gave us a room upgrade (on top of the decent online rate). The room was very comfortable and the evening meal was excellent. We didn’t come prepared to use the hotel pool, but that will be for the next time. The Balavil still preserves its Victorian spaciousness, combined with modern rooms with up-to-date facilities, and clearly deserves its excellent online reviews. It does what it does very well; the only thing I would change would be the breakfast coffee - cafetière please.

This was our second stay at the balavil and it did not disappoint!! Excellent food, great staff and a warm clean cosy bedroom, perfect after a nice walk round Newtonmore. Loved the pool for the kids and the sports bar was great for a quiet drink. Look forward to our next stay in the summer!
