The Wrea Head Hall Country House Hotel & Restaurant

Gorgeous place, courteous staff! Rooms were really spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. I loved the attention to detail and quality, from top notch linen, to quality bathrooms fittings etc. The large beautiful grounds and views on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors provide a great setting for this grand old house and another dimension to enjoy. Will be back!

We were so looking forward to a luxury break at the price we were paying. At the end of the stay we felt it had been overpriced, certainly not luxury, and will not return. The “luxury “ didn’t even include water to drink in the room. Perhaps fortunately as there were no glasses to drink from. The only glasses were in the bathroom and too small for putting essentials such as a palette in The bed was very thin and most uncomfortable and I woke with backache each morning. We were incidentally accompanied by a dead wasp on the window sill after the first morning , obviously it avoided the views ( or duster) of the cleaners. As did some excrement in the inside of the toilet. I cleaned that off myself! The choice of continental breakfast was nothing like what is found “on the continent “ The evening meal menu provided only 2 main courses which did not contain spices , such as curried haddock. Why not just plain haddock? The overall atmosphere was funereal as though the guests were in “God’s waiting room” it was only broken briefly by the lovely young staff. No sign of any managers who it seems leave the hassle for them to deal with. Most unfair! It is in a lovely setting but I fear that’s the only saving grace, apart from the aforementioned young staff. This is the first time in my 76 years that I’ve felt the need to write such a review as this. It really isn’t worth the money in our opinion and want to alert others.

I've been here a few times and absolutely love it. Room was beautiful and food amazing. Shout out for the raspberry bakewell tart 😋 Staff were so lovely - nothing was too much for them. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The room had a very comfortable bed and excellent shower. We will definitely be planning a return visit.

Absolutely top notch from start to finish. Really nice place and grounds. Comfy room and excellent food. Staff were very friendly and professional. Highly delighted and happy to recommend we came on recommendation and happy to return asap!!

We spent 3 nights at Wrea Head Hall and ‘upgraded’ to Room 4 with an amazing long view towards Scarborough Castle. The hotel is situated in Scalby, a lovely village to the north of Scarborough. The room was amazing, a very comfortable large bed, plenty of storage, a modern, well appointed bathroom. There was lots of room to relax. The food - both dinner and breakfast - were freshly prepared, local ingredients varied and imaginative. All the staff were friendly, professional and VERY helpful. We will be returning . . ..!!
