Hotel Manisses

I’ve been staying at Hotel Manisses for several years now, and it’s truly one of my favorite places on the island. The location is perfect, the property is beautiful, and the overall experience keeps me coming back year after year. The staff is always warm, welcoming, and attentive—especially Fay, who is an absolute gem. She goes above and beyond to make every guest feel right at home. From the charming decor to the peaceful atmosphere, everything about Hotel Manisses is thoughtfully curated and effortlessly relaxing. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind and savor the beauty of Block Island. I just left, and I’m already counting down the days until I return next summer!

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend here and really loved it. The hotel rooms are well-appointed and clean. We also had a little deck off of our room with lounge chairs, which we really enjoyed. The hotel is centrally located and it’s easy to walk to most of the restaurants and a couple beaches. The only negative I need to mention is that other weekend guests in the hotel were extremely loud and disruptive. This is something I would not have expected to happen at an upscale hotel like this, but we were woken up one night by a large group of people yelling and screaming in the hallway. This went on for about a half hour straight, and there is no nighttime desk staff to address situations like these. Also, whoever was staying above our room was stomping around all hours of the night, making it tough to get good sleep. it’s unfortunate, because our experience was lovely otherwise. I would stay again despite that, but feel that the staff should be aware.

We thought the Hotel Manisses was excellent for our quick 2-night Block Island getaway. Our room was very well appointed, with a very comfortable king bed, plenty of space and a nice bathroom that included a clawtub. The bar was also very good with a nice staff. We did not try the restaurant, but it also look quite nice (we ate at the Spring House and at the Wynnfield, and their restaurant looked similar in menu and ambience (minus the views that only the Spring House can provide, of course). The problem was on our second night when the fire alarm went off at 4AM and all guests had to leave the building until the staff (not on premises after 8PM), police and firefighters arrived to inspect. The affair lasted about 45 min in total. We understand the incident - these things happen. What upset us was the indifference of the front desk staff in the morning. When we mentioned that the night was rough as we had gone to bed late and had such a prolonged interruption, the front desk attendant mentioned that she also was tired because she had to come in early. Well, that's her job, not ours... A courteous apology (and maybe some bagels or pastries for the guests in acknowledgement of the major inconvenience) would have gone a long way... And I would have given it 5 stars.

We had one of the worst experiences we ever had at this hotel. The smoke alarm went off at 4am and we had to evacuate. The police and fire department showed up. We heard that someone was smoking in the hallway and that set the alarm off. We had a hard time sleeping after that. The bed was not very comfortable and the room was very small. The next day we were exhausted and we asked the general manager if there was anything she could do thinking that she would offer atleast a complimentary drink or a discount on dinner in their restaurant; she replied no that these things happen, The hotel only had water in the lobby and tea and coffee until 10 am. I asked for a cappuccino the morning after and they said that was not complimentary. We will not be staying here again and will not recommend this hotel to our family and friends. Very disappointed in how they treated their guests.

Lovely hotel and a very close walk from the ferry. Tyrone and Faye at the front desk were really nice and very helpful at helping us navigate the island. The room was clean and quaint. The room was a tad small compared to some others I've stayed in, and the double bed was a bit small for a couple (I didn't know it would be a double until I checked in), but I would definitely come back again!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The building itself is very cool—it's older and full of character, which added a lot of charm to our experience. The location was absolutely perfect. We were able to walk to the ferry, great restaurants, and lots of shops, which made everything super convenient. The beds were very comfortable, and we slept well each night. Overall, it was a pleasant and memorable stay. We’d definitely return!
