High Life Resort and Spa

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION Ok so the route up to this idealic spot would be a challenge without google maps but once you arrive you immediately know this is a special place Minimalistic but so tranquil with an amazing view The 3 rooms we selected fitted the bill - changed one room quickly and efficiently due to aged guest and too many steps in one room. Then straight into the accommodating pool. Evening meal on first night was not the best - seemed like they were unprepared for us but second night was much better in the air conditioned restaurant Apart from 2 other guests we had the place to ourselves for the weekend which enhanced the experience. Alex who covered the PM shift made us very welcome. We experienced an electrical thunderstorm during our stay which from our viewpoint was spectacular. Improvements could be made - time wating on meals could be improved if ordered early or evening before - everything was freshly cooked which compensated for the wait. Air conditioning was another issue the Saturday night but fans from reception again compensated WI-FI was the biggest issue with either NO coverage or very weak signal We will be back despite the short comings as a fabulous location and accommodations

The resort concept is great. The positives…staff are amazing and attentive. The opportunities…rooms need major improvement for it to meet its design concept. Light fixtures were missing, water pressure was low, bathrooms were barely functional (no counter space), walls need repair, curtains are dingy…I could go on.

First of all,I have been going to Negril Jamaica, for the last 21 years,this was a bad experience. First let me start with some positive feedback,The hotel looks just like the pictures that are advertised, very clean, Staff very friendly ,big shout out to Rusheka They were the best bob marley’s I’ve had in Jamaica. I usually like small boutique hotels when I come to Jamaica every now and then I will do an all inclusive hotel, but like the smaller ones. When searching for a hotel for this trip,this hotel popped up,I was like this is nice,first time coming across it, no reviews, but I decided to take a gamble,Ok on trying to find the resort was a little hard,but we managed to find it.Ok everyone was very welcoming With traveling all day,all I wanted was to get a shower and go to bed, I stopped on the way to get something to eat, so that was a good thing I did. I asked for some ice and water, when I was informed I would be charged for the water,but I let them know in the description of the room free water was included, so I was not charged for the water. Ok so I get my shower Plenty of hot water,a plus get ready for bed, relaxing , can’t watch any thing on TV, No Digital channels that was mention in the description,So I played my music, About to dose off ,when I hear someone about to enter my room, allI could do was holler stop,which prompted me to put something up against the door,Tried calling the front desk, no one answered, So I waited till the morning to report it, They apologized The maintenance guy made a mistake.ok I got through that, never got my digital channels on the tv, I watched you tube on my iPad I’m a tv person I could not keep up with the.news, well I did get to catch up my reading.Ok the food,very expensive,being in that area,you had no other choice..they had run out of cabbage and callaloo,thinking that the salad I asked for would be a replacement, but I was charged 10$ WOW.This is a long review, Ok jump to my last night. I’m lying in bed after packing, my music goes out, and the air goes off, I get up and go to the door, pitch black, off course there is no one to call, because no Wi-Fi, No security guard, I start to panic, Then start to pray,So of course I don’t sleep at all,first because I’m afraid, and it’s hot as HELL.So there was no body on the property until the Morning I.could not take a shower could not call anyone,I have been waiting to hear from them for some kind of Compensation,for the inconvenience of my last night.I’ve called,I’ve emailed. Nothing.This was a live and learn experience, the positive I still was on vacation, and spent my birthday in my favorite place Jamaica, But Highlife did not live up to it’s name.
