My favorite area to stay in Naxos town is the Borgo, as the old town outside the Kastro is called since Venetian times. It means a lot of charm, but also several steps in often quite narrow alleys. This time my choice had been the hotel 'Panorama' with an entrance by a big bougainvillea. I had been in touch with Mrs Irene about my arrival and she offered me a welcome drink, after Mr. Dimitris had picked me up at the port, showed the way and helped me with the big suitcase. My room was No 113 with a window facing north and a view over a flat roof towards the sea as well as the mountains. Just next to it I could see hotel Anixis, where I had stayed back in 2007. Outside the room was a small communal terrace and from a big terrace on top of the hotel one has superb views in all directions. A breakfast is available in the basement as of 08.30, best booked in advance. Since I didn't use it I cannot comment on it. Room 113 with two beds next to each other is not very big, just right for me, but if coming again with my wife I would ask for the bigger rooms 104 or 109. In any case I had a good nights sleep on a comfortable mattress and with no noise. In the wardrobe there were many good wooden cloth hangers, not just a few thin plastic ones one often encounters. It also had a safe. The quite small bathroom had a good shower and free toiletries. On departure Mr. Dimitris again helped me with the suitcase all the way to the port.
