Booked this hotel off the cuff without any recommendations so hoped for the best. Check in was great and the lovely friendly receptionist was a welcome start. The reception and interior of the hotel looked fantastic with a table full of fresh flowers on your way in. The room was nice except for the bathroom. Bathroom needs a thorough makeover. The bath was ancient, the door was swelled and warped from years of steam and no tlc. Shower was in the bath with a curtain, not great if you’re elderly as you’ve to climb in and out when it’s slippy. Dinner in the bar the first night was nice, second night was nicer in the restaurant. Food was lovely and the wine was quite good. The bar is really tastefully decorated and looked great. Alcohol is expensive enough but the pint was nice. The big problem we found with the bar was the tall foreign barman. He had a face on him like the week is long. No smile or hello and I felt as if he felt inconvenienced that we’d asked him for drinks. As for paying, he just shoved the gadget for your card at you took the price and just walked away, dreadful attitude. Anyway, thank God there were lounge staff that were more friendly and courteous. There was a band on Saturday night and they were very good. Two men on guitars that played all the songs I usually listen to. Really enjoyed them. The leisure centre was lovely and the staff were great and very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely lane swim and sauna. Breakfast in the mornings were excellent, absolutely anything that you desire was there. All told apart from the barman we’d a lovely weekend and would visit again in the future.
