If I only had three words to describe my stay at Mulberry Lavender Farm, I would say, “What matters most.” In less than twenty-four hours, I was given the gift of a beautiful reset. From the moment I stepped out of the car, it seemed as if time collapsed. The first one to greet me was a beautiful turkey with his feathers fanned out in all his grandeur. He slowly approached and then stopped a short distance away as if to say, “Welcome.” The next thing I noticed was that no one was in a hurry. The owners tended to chores with a rhythm and routine that can only come from years of knowing and caring for each animal--and yes, they all have names. As darkness approached, the peacocks flew up to the highest branches of a large tree to roost for the night. The century-old house has welcomed many visitors through the years and I immediately felt at home. Beautiful linens, lace curtains, antique furnishings, and books offered comfort and charm from a simpler time. I guess I had forgotten a few things about what makes my life meaningful amidst my busy calendar of to-dos. The atmosphere at Mulberry Lavender Farm invited me to relax and enjoy the experience. A few of my favorite things— - A breakfast frittata made with fresh eggs and hot biscuits served with homemade butter and honey harvested from the bee hives just a few steps out the door. - An early morning walk hearing the roosters announce the beginning of a new day. - A cozy bed with colorful and soft linens. - Large windows with beautiful views and lace curtains. - Watching the owners tend to the animals with love and attention while whistling a song. Do yourself a favor and take a few days off from your daily grind to enjoy a peaceful reset--a gift to yourself.
