Dogwood Motel

MAJOR PSA: This motel has BEDBUGS!! They are NOT clean!!! I have videos and pictures inside room 31 at Dogwood motel in Mountain View AR with a very active bedbug that crawled out of the motel pillow and onto the bed at a few minutes before 11pm on 5-13-23 as we finally laid down from a long day of travel. I’ll be contacting Dept of Health and Chamber of Commerce Monday morning but, if you were considering staying here because it’s cheap, unfortunately bedbugs and dirty conditions come with the cheap price. Rolling over to see a bedbug crawl out of the motel pillow totally ruined my Mothers Day, as I had planned waking early to visit my mamas grave but instead had to drive 4 hours back home. The male owner handled us reporting the bedbugs terribly- He got real upset when we showed him the video. We were refunded half of our money but the male owner walked in our room very hostile like, picked the bedbug up off the bed and flicked it outside the motel room. The room wasn’t clean when we arrived: run down/old and musty, stained? (looked dirty) sheets, dirty floors, 2 used plastic cups on the sink counter; it honestly looked like the room hadn’t been genuinely cleaned since the last guest stayed, the refrigerator didn’t get cool, the pool literally had hundreds of June bugs dead in the pool (pool did have cool lights in it, for what it’s worth!) We literally tried to just go with the flow because we were so tired and we just figured we’d sleep with our clothes on since the sheets looked dirty/stained and we’d leave early in the morning, but when the bedbug crawled out of the motel pillow and onto the bed, THAT, we couldn’t do. We immediately packed up, dealt with a hostile owner and got half our money back and then we drove home in the middle of the night. This place used to be nice; I grew up in MV and I’ve enjoyed coming back with my family over the years, BUT Dogwood motel IS NOT clean, IT 100% HAS BEDBUGS!!!!

We enjoy the drive-up motels, and this one is attractive with music motifs on the walls between rooms denoting Mountain View's reputation as a center for all kinds of American folk-based music. The staff were especially helpful and the room was charming with all usual amenities and excellent wifi. We appreciated the way we were treated and the cleanliness and attractiveness of the facility - high marks!
