Villa le Calvane

Our 6 day stay at Villa Le Calvane was perfect! The suites were luxurious, the breakfast and dinners divine, the pool so refreshing after our days of touring the area. The location was perfect for our daily outings to Greve, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca and Siena. Views from the property and the sunsets are still etched in our memory! But it’s the staff that makes this lovely place so very special and everyone who worked there are to be commended for their care and dedication to making their guests feel so welcome. We highly recommend this small hotel. It truly is a gem!

What is exceptional about this hotel is its staff. All extremely friendly and helpful with a special mention to Gemma and Paolo who went out of their way to make our stay memorable!! However, what spoilt our stay was the accomodation - how you can provide a suite without a single window in what is truly one of the most spectacular vistas on earth is a tad criminal!! Have the decency to mention the room - attic really has no windows and it’s up to the paying guest to decide whether he wants to book or not. It spoilt or stay here completely as it was not only claustrophobic but we felt totally ripped off!! A view to die for and it felt like a box!! Shame on you Villa Le Calvane.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Villa le Calvane, and it was a memorable and delightful stay throughout. The setting is spectacular, perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley of vineyards and olive groves, the countryside rolling and stretching away to the distant mountains on the horizon. Our suite was large and extremely comfortable, the food superb especially breakfast and dinner on the terrace enjoying the fabulous views. There is a lovely infinity pool, plenty of loungers and sofas dotted around to relax in, and we both enjoyed an outstanding massage during our stay. All the staff are knowledgeable, speak excellent English and are incredibly helpful in recommending places to go, to eat and activities to enjoy. We had a wine tasting in the wine cellar with Mirko the incredibly knowledgeable restaurant manager who runs his own winery. We also enjoyed a truffle hunt around 30 minutes drive away which was a real highlight. The hotel is perfectly positioned to explore Tuscany, within an hour if Florence, Siena and the Chianti towns and villages. A car is essential to get around. We loved our stay and we’re genuinely sad to leave. The entire team contributed to making our stay truly special and memorable. We even had the owner come and sit with us on our last day and ask our feedback on our experience - which was a lovely touch. Thank you to Leonardo, Salvatore, Mirko, Mario and everyone else.

The property is stunning. Best pool in Tuscany, with the best view. The staff are all amazing, willing to do anything they can to make sure each guest has the best stay. Breakfast is wonderful and dinner was great!

The entrance to this property is immediately preceded by a junk yard. There is hardly any staff on hand, and it is dead quiet. None of that compares, however, to the false description of the accommodations. There is, in fact, no "spacious balcony and exclusive seating" as described on Villa Le Calvane's own web site for Executive Suites. The staff admitted its web site is wrong, yet the deception remains.... Go to Villa San Michele instead; we did, and oh what a truly 5-star place it is!

My wife and I stayed at Villa Le Calvane for 4 nights after a few nights in the city in Florence. It was an amazingly surreal and relaxing experience. The property was one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen from the Villa, the pool, the gym, the terrace for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and the surrounding vineyard and olive groves. We had the top floor suite which was exceptional with this massive window overlooking the Tuscan country side. We took a cooking class with Chef Francesco that was a wonderful experience, personable and friendly, patient and personable. We spent our days enjoying the lovely breakfast, off to the gym, then laying out at the pool drinking local wine or Alessio's famous Negronis, followed by wonderful long relaxing lunches on the terrace, then walks through the vineyards with wild rosemary and lavender all around us, off to the best sunsets you will ever see, then magnificent dinners at night. Grazie mille to Eva, Mirko, Alessio, Rebecca, and Alesso for making our trip very special.
