You can only use the spa for 90 minutes if you book a treatment so very little to do on a cold wet and windy winters afternoon. Can see the grounds would be lovely in the summer. Staff were very friendly Room 109 is extremely hot....the wardrobe even hotter.

We stayed in room 137, one of the hotel’s “feature rooms,” paying £190 per night. It was easily one of the worst hotel stays we’ve ever experienced, and it’s clear that the claims of luxury are completely false. If we didn’t have a 3hr drive home, we’d have left immediately. The room was filthy. The shower had thick mould, scum around the floor, and tiles discolored from years of dirt. There was dust on every surface, crumbs and hair in the fridge and tea drawer, and even the bedding was ripped. Every wall, door, and ceiling was scuffed, cracked, or peeling, with bare plaster in some areas. Outside, the fire pit area was surrounded by broken plant pots, weeds, and general neglect. The room itself was poorly equipped and uncomfortable. There was nowhere to properly store clothes or a suitcase, and random items like wires, a fan, and an iron were left in plain sight, adding to the clutter. The bed was two singles pushed together, which constantly separated, and the mattress was so uncomfortable that we barely slept. To make matters worse, the outdoor light shone through the blinds all night, and the lack of soundproofing meant we heard every noise from nearby rooms and corridors. Breakfast was chaotic and disappointing. Despite the high price, our toast and croissants never arrived, my cappuccino was served in a half-full, wet mug, and the juice was empty for most of the service. I emailed the hotel after our stay, detailing all of these issues and including photos, but received no response. It’s clear from other TripAdvisor reviews that complaints about cleanliness have been ignored for some time, and no effort has been made to address them. For £190 per night, this was an absolute waste of money. The room was cramped, dirty, and outdated, with none of the luxury that was promised. I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel until significant improvements are made.

After carefully researching and selecting a room based on certain requirements I needed being 25 weeks pregnant with twins, we ended up very disappointed with our experience. This was our last romantic trip away before becoming parents and unfortunately it was a bit of a let down. I chose to book a room that had a private outdoor space, an extra futon bed, and close to the car park. I haven’t slept well whilst pregnant so the extra sleeping space when booking was appealing incase the bed wasn’t big enough so my partner would have an extra option for sleeping. We also wanted an outdoor space, as I can often can feel hot and nauseous at random, so having access to outdoors also appealed to us. We also realised the type of room we chose, would be nearest to the car park, which was ideal for carrying luggage and being near to our car in the rare case of an emergency. Despite this careful selection, when we arrived we were told by the receptionist that we had been “upgraded” to a room nearer to the main building. I was initially grateful for the upgrade although had some concerns we might not be where we had carefully selected. When then arriving to the room I quickly discovered that we had been in fact downgraded to a standard double, that was much smaller then the room we had booked, and also had no private or any outdoor space for that matter. It also had no futon and was significantly smaller. We complained immediately and was informed the room we had in fact booked wasn’t available (had been given to someone else). We were offered a bigger room that had a larger bed to make up for the futon that wasn’t available, and an outdoor space. Although I was grateful for the rectification, it was inconvenient as we had to move our luggage again (no help was offered with this) and we were also now further away from both car park and main building and down a flight of stairs. For me it was the insult of being told we had been offered an upgrade when it was so obviously a downgrade- did they not think we would notice the stark difference in room & no private outdoor space!? Disappointingly, The new room we received was also filthy! Initially I gave them the benefit of the doubt that we had been moved room in the evening and at short notice, but even the next day when the cleaner came, the floors were left filthy, it seemed other then the bed being made and new towels, nothing was actually cleaned. In the 3 night stay, our room was only cleaned once, despite us leaving the “we are out exploring” sign on the door every morning. I don’t think the floors were cleaned at all during our stay and we found what looked like a blood or food stain on the throw over, again which wasn’t changed (we discarded that to one side). We only tried the breakfast once at the pub over the road and it was average for the price, although service was good. Similarly, the spa facilities were average, but the spa therapists were great and the treatments were 10/10 which made up for

The hotel looked beautiful from the outside. However the room was so hot we had to sleep with the windows wide open - not ideal on the ground floor. No way to turn the heat down. The sink and toilet were still dirty I had to clean it myself… Bedside lamps didn’t work… Woke in the morning went to make a cup Of tea and there were no teabags or milk, and only 1 glass for water? Coffee pods had t been replaced and when I went to call reception the phone didn’t work either! Definitely wouldn’t return

On a return visit to this hotel we were sadly disappointed to experience a severe decline in attention to detail our “Feature Room” was extremely cold, our bathroom smelt of sewage and the flooring wasn’t clean. If we didn’t have a 3 hour drive home we would have left immediately. As we were only staying one night we decided to grin and bear it. To top it off, we were informed if we wanted to use the swimming pool, it would cost £25 per guest for 90 minutes, we declined this opportunity. The setting of the hotel is great, and the building looks attractive from outside, but it needs a revamp in terms of attention to detail and overall cleanliness. The majority of staff were friendly and polite, but I felt there was a distinct lack of management support to provide guidance as to what is appropriate for a well managed hotel

Charming boutique hotel in the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside. The property effortlessly combines historic character with modern luxury, The beautifully landscaped gardens and riverside setting create a serene ambiance, perfect for relaxation. Rooms are elegantly designed, blending contemporary comforts with rustic charm. The on-site restaurant impresses with its seasonal, locally-sourced menu, and the spa looks great ( need to come back to try it properly). Attentive staff ensure a warm and welcoming experience. Ideal for a romantic getaway or peaceful retreat, Minster Mill is a hidden gem worth discovering.

This was our third visit to Minster Mill and unfortunately, the place is beginning to feel a little tired. The prices are increasing but this is not reflected in the rooms, some had stains on the walls and cracks. Firstly, the spa is still a lovely space and the treatments were wonderful- the hot stone massage was a real treat. However, we were really surprised to be charged a service charge on top of an already expensive treatment, we have not had this anywhere else. Hidden charges leave a bitter aftertaste. The rooms are still cosy with wooden beams however, they are beginning to look a tad tired and could do with some closer attention. The soundproofing isn’t great. The pre-paid breakfast was okay however on checkout we were charged a service charge for breakfast which again, we have not had anywhere else, especially on a prepaid service. The grounds and surroundings are still very captivating and the staff are welcoming and friendly.

Well where to start with this review… As other reviews locations is perfect. however the receptionist was rude as soon as we arrived absolutely awful. We had a garden room and. The room wasn’t very clean despite check in at 15:00; grind in the bathroom cob webs, shutters broken, l’occitaine products half used, Tv to not working (required batteries) loud pumps waking us up at night, we were offered a room which someone else booked and hadn’t checked in late at night (like we should move) didn’t sleep very well at all. The room and building need better care for a 4/5 star hotel. Breakfast was nice and staff were nice too. The deputy manager was nice and trying to be helpful to the issues. Unfortunately, we couldn’t wait to leave. I was thinking of leaving at 11:30pm and go back home as just wanted to get out. I hate to say this but for the £160.00 that I paid for one night it was the worse place I have ever stayed in. I appreciate that others may have a different experience but this was mine.

I hate to give such a damning review, but I just hope the restaurant read this and change things. I went yesterday with a friend of mine to have a festive afternoon tea and we were so excited but sadly it was terrible. The place itself is lovely and the staff very friendly, but the actual food was appalling. The sandwiches were hard like they had been refrigerated for hours, the scones were like rocks - I cut he fruit one and I told my friend to brace herself as I just knew it was going to go flying and sure enough it flew on to my lap. The little cakes on the top we didn’t really touch - they did look nice, but we had given up by this point. On a positive note We did have lots of cups of nice English breakfast tea and the glass of champagne was nice and so was the blazing fire. It is such a shame as I love my afternoon teas and was so hoping this was going to be my new best place to take friends, but sadly until the sandwiches are soft and yummy and the scones freshly baked and not reheated or resembling rock cakes I can not recommend this.
