Logis Hotel Restaurant Le Mont Aigoual

Older style Logis Hotel right in the centre of this charming village, a great place to explore the nearby Gorges du Tarn. The room was a decent size with a large bathroom and a pleasant view of the swimming pool. There's no car park, it's on the road outside - one of the staff moved their car so we could leave ours right outside which was appreciated. Dinner was good, 42 Euro menu. Breakfast not as good as we'd expected after the dinner. Bread and croissants (3 or 2 people?) delivered in a basket, ham and cheeses on plates with cloths over them, no chiller. It was just a bit disappointing after such a lovely dinner.

Room super clean and cosy. The restaurant has to be tried with local specialties and a very good choice of French vines. The rate quality / price is a very good deal. The breakfast is also very good with chestnut bread and local honey which you have to try.

Secure parking, clean rooms. Lovely garden and swimming pool. Good restaurant. Plenty of places of interest in the area. Very helpful friendly staff. Family room good size. Excellent food in restaurant.

Now, this is my third review of this special hotel. You might think that a lot, but we have now been coming for 21 years! Let me give you a number of tips:- While the area can appeal to anyone, it is particularly attractive to walkers. birders and bikers. If you are going to stay for a few nights choose to go "demi pension". The deal is unbeatable and the dinners excellent. You pretty well work your way round the à la carte choices. All the rooms are fine, whether you face the garden or the river. In high summer, you might benefit from the shade of the river side. There are three special rooms that are bigger and better equipped than the others. I haven't seen them advertised, but ask and you might be lucky. The staff are all helpful and between them multi-lingual. They are led by the remarkable Stella Robert, a true professional and a third generation hotelière in the village. Her watchful eye ensures quality throughout. I shall be 82 when we visit next spring looking, as always, for the magnificent wild orchids that grow in the Cevennes.

The host/owner was very welcoming and attentive. The host supervised the excellent restaurant which served traditional Cevenne style food, locally sourced. The host attended to guest's smallest requests and also operated the reception at times. Accommodation was very comfortable. A beautiful rear garden area with a patio and swimming pool ( which was operating when I was there in early May 2022). This is a hotel to be highly recommended.

The hotel is situated in the main area and close to the shops, bars and restaurants. I would recommend booking a room on the garden side, these are both quieter and sunnier than the rooms on the front. We stayed here on a walking holiday and booked the demi-pension, which was a great option for hungery walkers. Breakfast is also substantial with a wide range of choices. The hotel has a quiet and well kept garden/ sitting area with swimming pool at the rear - the pool was wonderful after a long walk. The hotel is run by a friendly, efficient and enormously hard working team who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.
