Alp-Hôtel

Absolutely wonderful week at the family run, traditional French Alp Hotel. We were looked after most excellently by Olivier and Rachel, and their team. The hotel was spotlessly clean, our rooms were simple but very comfortable and there was an endless supply of hot water. Perfect continental breakfast and most delicious four course meal in the evenings (with all dietary requirements catered for). The hotel is in the perfect location, close to the Rochbrune teleferique and a few minutes' walk from the centre of Megeve.

I stayed at the Alp Hotel in August. Megève is an upscale winter and summer resort and if you want to spend a lot on accommodation there is a large choice. However if you’re on a budget or simply want to spend the money you would otherwise have spent on housing, and on food and shops, the Alp Hotel is definitely the place to go. Yes, while the rooms are not what you get at a 4 or 5 star hotel , they are extremely clean, and kept clean daily by the cleaning crew. I was pleasantly surprised that each day when returning from breakfast my room had already been tidied; beds made, towels hung, etc. In addition the common areas are very nice and there is an outdoor area with tables and chaises lounges with a nice view, as well as room to sit inside at the ground level if you want to relax and rest. This is a family run hotel. Olivier and his wife Rachel have one thing in mind: customer comfort and satisfaction and they both went out of their way to answer any question I had in great detail. It is something rare, and goes well beyond a smiling clerk behind a counter at a higher class establishment. There are some commentaries that say the Alp Hotel is 10 minutes from the center. But it is only 5 at most to the main center village street where you find the office of tourism (make sure to download their user friendly app), shops, restaurants & pubs, church and city hall town square. And I’ll reiterate that it’s a 5 minute walk to the Rochebrune Telecabine lift that takes you up to the hiking and ski trails. So in conclusion I highly recommend this for the budget and non budget travelers who value service, and would return without hesitation. And if you want any information before you book, call Olivier at the hotel direct line. He speaks good English. There is also a restaurant on the premises (also where breakfast is served) and I’m sorry I did not have dinner there because from the reviews and people I spoke to who ate there it was very good. Nous venons de séjourner dans cet hôtel très bien situé de Megève, chambre 17 et avons apprécié ses nombreuses qualités : la proximité du centre ville et de la télécabine, le jardin fleuri et soigné, les chaises longues face à la montagne et un paysage bucolique. L'hôtel est très bien tenu, propre et parfumé. Les repas sont bons, préparés par le "patron' de l'hôtel, un monsieur chaleureux et attentif aux autres qui aime cuisiner, rire et faire plaisir. Il en est de même de son épouse, une dame active, soucieuse du bien-être de chacun et de très bon conseil sur les randonnées et la vie locale. Tous deux savent donner au lieu de la douceur et de la convivialité. Question petit déjeuner, les fenêtres ouvertes sur le jardin-côté rue-, apportent une vue agréable et rafraîchissante. On peut parfois y surprendre un écureuil...Tout a été parfait. Merci à nos hôtes ! Nous garderons un très bon souvenir de l'endroit et espérons y revenir.
