The host was very friendly and the cabin was cosy and surrounded by natural beauty! The pizza takeaway from nearby Maydena Bike Park was tasty!!

Lovely clean cabins. Easy to find. The bed was so comfortable! Lovely host and very informative about the alpacas. They are very quiet and I walked around with them. Amazing mountain views. I could even see some snow on top of one of the mountains.

Recently I had occasion to visit a friend who was staying here and to my horror found that the poor alpacas had not a blade of grass in their paddock while the neighbouring paddock was flush with feed. It appears that the owners of this business have deliberately mowed the pasture into non existence so that the alpacas have to come to the cabins to be fed. There they get hand fed and paraded around like trained monkeys. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against the whole farm-stay thing but this is not a farm and these are not farmers and using starvation as a training tool for animals is just plain wrong.

Lovely location, clean, comfortable and great views over to the mountains and the Alpacas.. Great outdoor bbq area with seating. Everything is there plus extra to make your stay comfortable. Lovely to have a large vanity in the bathroom. Stevan is very welcoming and full of knowledge regarfing the local area and walks.. We drove to Strathgordon and walked the Gordon Dam wall, did a few walks in the National Park. We stayed two nights but would have stayed an extra if wasn't book elsewhere.. As there are so many small, medium and larger walks in the area. Will stay again if we return to Tasmania.

Loved it. The owners are a delight. We stayed in the Lavender room. It was clean, comfortable. The living area had a large comfy couch and big TV. The kitchenette was useful, and set up well. Extra items to use if wanted. Prep area was great and descent fridge to use. Bathroom was large and vanity large. Outside area was pleasent area with the grandest of views. Stunning. Removing of shoes was a great idea. And didn't having issue with complying. The Alpacas were adorable and watch them get fed. Only thing would be nice to close off the bedroom so hubby didn't bother me with the TV. But all up well recommended accommodation. About 14ks from Mt Fields. 6ks from Marriotts Falls and not far at all to Junee Caves.

My wife and I stayed for three nights last month at the Maydena Mountain Cabins during a driving trip around Tasmania. The location is excellent in terms of local attractions and walks - the Gordon Dam, Lake Pedder and the numerous walks around Mt Field National Park. We stayed in the Rose King Cabin which was very comfortable and private. Nice rural and mountain views from the cabin. Self catering is the order of the day - we stocked up in Hobart prior to driving to Maydena. Jo and Stevan were great hosts - very personable and helpful. Stevan feeds the Alpacas at 8.30 each morning which is an interesting activity to join in. Thoroughly recommend Maydena Mountain Cabins as a good base to explore this part of south west Tassie.

Had a lovely stay here, owners were really helpful and kind when we booked in last minute! Also got to go in at feeding time for the Alpacas in the morning, such a lovely experience! Really can’t recommend enough!

Honestly what more could you ask for? Misty views out over a lush valley, the darling alpacas and a stone throw away from even more beautiful national park! The owners were absolutely lovely and took care of my partner and I completely, it was the best most relaxing getaway we’ve had in ages :)
