A beautiful place with breath taking views! The staff could not do enough to help you to ensure you have everything you need and more! All of the chalets and villas are located around a hilly area so expect steep climbs! However, the staff are happy to chauffeur you around if you require. There are local trials are around the resort which provides spectacular views of the mountains, sea and village below. For a short stay which provides tranquility and relaxation amongst nature this is a perfect place to visit and stay!

My fiancé and I spent an unforgettable two-night stay at Lakaz Chamarel for our Valentine’s Day celebration, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we checked in, we were treated like royalty. Thierry Bazerque, the Executive Assistant Manager, was incredibly welcoming and ensured every detail of our stay was perfect. Along with his dedicated staff, they truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home. For our Valentine’s dinner, we were delighted by a special, thoughtfully crafted menu that made the evening even more memorable. The food was exquisite, and the ambiance was simply magical. Our private suite had the most breathtaking view of Piton Canot, which we woke up to each morning. It was a peaceful retreat, with every corner of the room exuding comfort and charm. The highlight, however, was the bar with the best view ever—perfect for sunset cocktails! Watching the sun dip behind the mountains while sipping on drinks was an experience we’ll cherish forever. Lakaz Chamarel truly offers an unparalleled combination of luxury, tranquility, and excellent service. Thierry and his team made our stay extra special, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a romantic and unforgettable escape.

We stayed at this wonderful resort for ten days for the third time in June 2025. Due to its uniqueness, hospitality and high quality standards, we would visit it again and again and recommend it without reservation. With the greatest respect for nature, the owners, who come from Mauritius, have created a place here over many years that offers a sheltered retreat from everyday life, so that the holiday can begin from the very first minute. It is a true paradise in a dreamlike setting that impresses with its family atmosphere and outstanding service. What's more, no culinary wishes remain unfulfilled. We would especially like to thank Peggy, Rakshika, Juana, Thierry, Vinesh, Rajeev, Jeremy and everyone else for their warm hospitality and care and are already looking forward to the next time!

We stayed at Lakaz Chamarel last week to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. From the moment of arrival to our departure, the stay was outstanding. The location itself is special. Perched on a hill way up above the island’s south east coast, you are surrounded by unique fauna and flora. We nearly stepped on a Panther Chameleon (the only type to be found in Mauritius). We also spotted a mongoose, an oriental garden lizard and beautiful birds (like the abundant red-whiskered bul bul) - all around our lodge. From the View Bar next door we watched the island’s huge flying foxes gliding around at sunset too. We stayed in the Piton Rivière Noir chalet. We had our own infinity pool - from where we could look down to the sea - unforgettable. We were just a few steps from the path up to the summit of Piton Canot. Although a strenuous climb, the reward at the top was quite something. It’s a very peaceful place too and, as part of our package, we enjoyed a coconut body scrub, a massage and a couple of henna tattoos. The yoga session was good too - everyone felt welcome, regardless of experience. The meals were also top quality. We enjoyed the dorade and ruby snapper - everything so well seasoned too. It was here that we tried the local lychee wine - you should try it - semi-sec and perfect for the tropical food. What made the stay especially memorable was the warmth of the team who works there. We want to give a special thank you to Peggy and Thierry (the location managers). Peggy ensured that our late arrival would soon be forgotten by walking us over to our dinner table and letting us know we could complete the check-in formalities the next morning and Thierry was a gem too - offering helpful advice and offering us a late check out (and lunch) to make up for the time we missed due to our missed connection in Dubai. Thanks for the beautiful anniversary gift too! We’ll treasure it. 10/10. Perfect.

I spent one night at Lakaz Chamarel, and it was worth every single penny! My partner and I booked the seaview room, and I have to say, everything was perfect—and it takes a lot for me to find no flaws! The Room: 10/10 – Spotlessly clean, with breathtaking views, great amenities, and an incredible location. Truly flawless! The Service: 100/10 – Thierry, the F&B manager, is an absolute gem! His hospitality made us feel at ease and comfortable throughout our stay. Juanna was also fantastic, always ready to assist and super helpful. This place is a little piece of paradise! Being surrounded by nature is such a unique experience, and the landscaping is absolutely stunning—every detail is so well thought out. The View Bar: What can I say? The highlight of our stay! Relaxing lounge vibes paired with a spectacular view—it doesn’t get any better than this. A Couple of Suggestions: • The dinner menu was a bit restrictive and leaned heavily on local dishes. As residents, we would have appreciated more variety and options beyond local cuisine. • The rooms need air conditioning. We understand and respect the eco-friendly concept, but it was uncomfortably warm at night, even with the fans. Apart from these minor points, I absolutely recommend Lakaz Chamarel to anyone looking for a tranquil and unique getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

We had an incredible stay in one of the sea view suites. Room was amazing and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. There is also plenty to do in the area and the food is really tasty with a different menu each day. Highly recommend staying here for anyone visiting Mauritius.
