Pleasantly surprised by this charming bed and breakfast. Our rooms and bathroom was spotless, beds were comfortable and our hostess made sure to check in with us at the end of the night to ensure we had everything we needed. A delicious breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room and was just what we needed before hitting the road. Our 6 year old daughter was ready to move in and asked whether we could return the following weekend. Thank you Danby House for an enjoyable stay. We’ll definitely stay again the next time we’re in town.

What a wonderful place ! For people who enjoy the beauty, quality and craftsmanship of well over 100 year old heritage homes, this one will click all the boxes. Of course one hears other inhabitants of the house, no matter how quiet the try to be, but that is part of the experience. The bathrooms are very modern and everything perfectly clean. We loved the high ceilings as well. Julia is a wonderful host. The breakfasts are amazing. Markdale itself has all amenities within an easy and short walk, the library is right next door. We were there for a week and look forward to coming again. Thank you and keep the house as is !

We very much enjoyed our stay at Danby House on Thanksgiving weekend, 2023. Julia and Greg were very responsive through the whole booking process and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Very comfortable bed and thoughtful amenities. Thank you!

Amazing experience. We stayed in Jane’s room which didn’t have an ensuite but our bathroom was private. Julia was a friendly, lovely host. She made us feel so welcome with her sparkly personality. The breakfast was delicious. From freshly made croissants to homemade yogurt and fluffy white omelettes. The food could not be better. There are not many ‘hotel options’ in Markdale so we were unsure what to expect staying at a B&B. Having said that, we would defiantly stay at Danby House on our next visit without hesitation.

Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating owner who went out of her way to make sure our stay was 10/10. Prior to our arrival she was also very helpful and quick to respond to our emails. Rooms were very clean and well appointed. Water/Coffee was readily available. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious including homemade yogurt. We will definitely stay there again.

Julia is an excellent host. She was so helpful with local knowledge and what is going on in and around Markdale. The accommodations were very comfortable and very quaint. We highly recommend this B&B to anyone passing through this area. We stayed in the Walker Suite which has its own entrance which is very convenient. The complimentary breakfasts are second to none! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Lovely, quiet and cozy Bed and Breakfast place. My husband and I wanted to get away from the stressors these past few weeks and even though this was only for 2 nights, it did the job. Julia was a very good host and very welcoming. Towns of Collingwood, Flesherton and Meaford are close by. Hiking areas with waterfalls are very close. We did Inglis and Eugenia falls in one day. Chapman ice cream stand is a walking distance from this house and open from 6-9 with lots of seating areas. There is also a bakery across from it. Monday and Tuesday seem to be quiet days so bakery and restaurants are closed. But you can take a drive to Flesherton, Meaford to get something to eat. We will return!

Julia welcomed us upon arrival and upgraded us to their largest room. She was very helpful recommended local attractions. Really lovely homemade breakfasts- plenty of cereal juices fruit etc will be back next time we are in grey county. Thank Julia

From the moment my friend and I entered this B&B, we felt warmly welcomed. Julia showed us to our room and the spacious bathroom down the hall. Everything was clean and well-appointed--with a variety of toiletries in the bathroom and tea and coffee in the hall when we wanted them. There were two comfortable twin beds in our room, and we had a good night's sleep on comfortable beds in this quiet neighbourhood near the main street. In the morning, although we hadn't booked in advance, Julia offered us a simple, tasty breakfast. We'll be sure to stay at the Danby B&B if we should be in Markdale again! One point to note: One must go upstairs to the rooms, so if accessibility is an issue, this might be a problem.
