The Crown & Anchor

Great classic pub. The bar staff were friendly and helpful with beer and food suggestions. Fish and chips did not disappoint. Plenty of seating options. Nice clientele. Walking distance to a number of shops and other restaurants in the area. I’d definitely return

This pub and the B&B has recently been refurbished. It's considered a budget city centre accommodation. It's much better than budget in my opinion! The pub is lovely and the food is amazing! All homemade! The staff are friendly and the welcoming. Will defo go back.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE! Wouldn't even give 1 star! Absolutely appalling ownership, they should not be running a business! Booked for 1 night with friends to go and see busted at the arena, planned to make a night of it and go out afterwards bit that was all ruined when we go to the pub and it was closed! Signs everywhere saying it was under construction! No contact to let us know beforehand so we could try and arrange something else, just let us turn up and find out like that, absolutely disgusting! Tried ringing with no luck so rang *********** who I booked the room through, they was appalled too as they hadn't been made aware either, did everything to try and find us somewhere else to stay at the cost of the Crown and anchor but there was nowhere available as it was a busy weekend so ended up having to drive home instead. Do not waste your money and have your weekend ruined by these unprofessional, inconsiderate and downright appalling excuses for human beings.

Beware if you book to stay at the Crown and Anchor in Manchester. I booked in June to stay overnight in September. I paid in full through Booking .com. I received an email the day before I was due to stay asking what time we were arriving! I duly replied with a time. Upon arrival I was told I didn’t have a booking. I showed the confirmation email to the man behind the bar and he said to take it up with ***********. *********** had confirmed they had told the pub we were going. We asked to speak to the manager and was told he wasn’t available! No-one was interested and we were fobbed off! Two pensioners stranded in the middle of a busy city. *********** rang them too and could not make any headway as the man behind the bar said they were fully booked and had no rooms left! Ironically according to the guest list no-one else had paid apart from me! BEWARE!!

Room stank of stale smoke, cups and kettle manky,it’s a shared bathroom with all rooms on the floor and I’m pretty sure the homeless wouldn’t even use it. We stayed for two nights and I would’ve rather spent the wkend in the jail. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

The place was disgusting! Their cleaners must have been abducted by aliens because that can be the only explanation of the state of this property. The floors in the room were absolutely filthy, the lamp and curtain were broken, there were cigarette butts on the window sill and cigarette ash marks on the bed, shreds of toilet paper on the floor. The shared bathroom in the hallway was exactly the same complete with used wrappers from women's sanitary pads, other trash and dirty towels on the floor and a broken door that I struggled to close. The staff at the pub tried to be helpful, but clearly struggled to find my booking in their system. The bed was actually surprisingly comfortable, but it was two single beds put together and I almost fell into the hole in the middle. I didn't mind the noise as that comes with such a central location in the nightlife center of the city.
