Mamula Island by Banyan Tree

Many negative comments about Mamula Island Resort come from people who have never actually visited, judging it solely by its past as a prison. In reality, the resort does not overlook this history. It’s respectfully remembered through a dedicated museum and open days that invite reflection. From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptional: warm yet impeccably professional, making us feel genuinely cared for. They went above and beyond, helping us organise private events and seamlessly planning our entire holiday. I have never felt so well looked after in any other 5-star hotel. The design is breathtaking, with rooms that are both elegant and comfortable, offering stunning views in every direction. The food was consistently excellent, and the wine list well curated, with something to suit every palate. Mamula is a rare combination of beauty, history, and hospitality, an experience I would recommend without hesitation.

This place is truly out of this world. I found myself savoring every moment, hoping to take home even a bit of the hotel’s magic. The views of the bay are absolutely spectacular, and the thoughtful remodeling of this historic fortress highlights and embraces the natural beauty all around. Island was not an accessible for public visitors and it was not easy to figure out. No information available on internet or travel agencies….hotel on the island did not pick up the phone regularly…it was very disappointing and took almost three days to find some information
