Hotel Malcesine

Excellent location with lake view and the staff is good. If they can provide free bottles of water, that's perfect.

As advertised this is only a 3 star hotel, so moderate expectations. Arriving at the beginning of the second week in October we found that the restaurant closed at 8, and, more to our surprise so too the hotel bar, even for hotel guests! This would not have been such a problem if it were not that many bars closed even earlier. We had booked half board but after a couple of tries we decided to eat out. Eating out was not all expensive and drinks reasonably priced too. Our room was basic but did have a lake view.

The hotel room was magnificent and the view was amazing. However the waiters in this hotel could do with customer service training, they clearly have no clue on this area very rude. Manager and front desk were excellent and made you feel very welcomed.

Hotel Malcesine was magnificent! The staff were some of the kindest we have ever met. We stayed for 7 nights on a half board basis and could not fault the hotel experience at all, everything was great. Food and cocktails were fab! The separate restaurant overlooking the lake is open to the public but hotel guests receive 10% discount which was useful. Housekeeping made up our room every morning before we made it back from breakfast and they were all very pleasant. The hotel updates often by signage of local events going on in the area week to week which was handy to find out events going on that we weren’t aware of. There is also a big market a 2 min walk from the hotel every Saturday morning. The view of the lake from the hotel is incredible. The local area of Malcesine is stunning and there is a lot to do within the resort area. We visited the castle, took the cable car to the top of the Monte Baldo, went on a 2 hour panoramic yacht cruise around the lake, visited Limone twice during our stay which is a 15 min ferry ride away and 9 euros return per person on the ferry, we also made sure to visit Venice and Verona during our stay too. Malcesine is the prettiest place and I already can’t wait to return! Thank you to all the staff at the hotel for making our stay so wonderful and memorable - you are the best!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! I made a mistake on my dates and booked to stay here for two nights, within 2 minutes I realized my mistake but they absolutely would not refund my money. I had to pay a $400 mistake . I tried several emails and phone calls and they would not accommodate my request for a refund telling me there "are rules". I understand a policy but when a cancellation is made within minutes that is an obvious error that should be considered. If this is their customer service I hate to see what the service at the hotel is like!!

Ididn't stay, I only ate at the lovely out door restaurant. Staff were lovely and helpful as I needed a take aways for my husband. He was poorly and could not leave his accomodation. Food was fine. On the last night I had a take away for my husband and returned for my own meal. It was the older waiter who served me and said there were no more tables but he could put me in the indoor restaurant. There was one more couple finishing their meal and I was left in the restaurant by myself for the duration of the meal. I felt humiliated and belittled being a single person by myself. Everyone after me were given an out side table.There was no effort to find me table outside. I had actually paid for two meals every time although one of them was a take away. I didnt feel I was wasting table space. Perhaps said waiter could be more courteous to single diners!

I was a little concerned reading reviews ahead of our stay but was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's a bit tired, basic....but....super clean, location amazing with stunning views, staff all so friendly and the meals from the restaurant are lovely with a 10% discount given to guests. All in all, a very comfortable stay at a great price, you couldn't get a better location for the money and in Lake Garda you spend every second you can looking at the views not in your room!

A brilliant stay at hotel Malcesine. Very friendly staff who couldn’t be more helpful when needed. We fell in love a little with George who works in the restaurant. Beds were a little hard but just put the duvet underneath the sheet and problem solved. LGBT friendly, comfortable and clean 🏳️‍🌈

We stayed at this hotel 15yrs ago but at the time there wasn't air conditioning. When I was looking to visit again I was delighted that the rooms now have air con. The staff were amazing breakfast, restaraunt and maid service. All friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the middle of beautiful Malcesne with bars and shops right outside along with the ferry port steps away. We were with my 90yr old Dad and it was perfect. We ate at the hotel a few times and the setting right on the lake was stunning and food was great too. Big thank you to Pam for sorting the rooms that fitted our requirements. We had an amazing stay and the view from our balcony was just stunning. The price for the location was such good value, you would expect to pay so much more to be so central. Rooms were lovely and clean & comfy. Could not fault our stay, thank you.
