Arrived a little late but everything was prepared waiting for us. The room was small but well-equipped and clean. The bar staff in the evening were good but closed very much at 11. Breakfast was freshly prepared and hot. The hotel is right in the centre of town so a great base for a wander around.

It saddens me to write this, over the past couple of months we have been going to the White lion for food, which has been excellent hence why we have returned a number of times, Staff are normally very pleasant & helpful, however our last visit was not so good, we both ordered the same meal, Beef & onion baguette, the portion was brilliant but the beef was too tough to chew or even put a fork in & onions were over salted, when we complained the staff didn't seem too bothered but asked if there was anything else we would want, as there was nothing else we wanted we said no, so she walked away, I think it would have been more helpful to offered a half refund or even a free dessert, we just got the impression they didn't know how to handle a complaint or what to do, so they did not come to clear the full plates - this is a real shame as we have enjoyed our other meals here.

A really friendly, busy pub with spotless rooms that were safe and comfortable. We were 2 friends who stayed here whilst walking Glyndwr’s way. All the staff in the pub were very friendly, as indeed were the local community. We were stuck for a taxi on Sunday (note to travellers taxis are impossible to find on Sunday in Mach). So everyone put the feelers out to find a way of getting us to the start of our walk. Luckily a kind local gave us a lift. This pub is a great place to stay, but the people of Machynlleth itself are the real attraction. Thanks White Lion team. X

Our first visit for several years, stopped on our way to the coast, an amazing place with a huge menu, excellent large portions of food,also good selection of ales with the Hobsons Brewery Twisted Spire particularly good. The staff were very friendly, we will be back.

Went in looking for some food and was greeted at the busy bar (on a Tuesday!) found a table and looked at the extensive menu. Was slightly hesitant as there is a lot of choice but had an enchilada and my colleague had a gammon... Incredible! And the beers on tap were great too. Excellent selection, I had a Welsh Pale Ale and my colleague went for a Guinness, both perfect. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town!

Situated right in the heart of this interesting market town, this well-maintained little hotel was a good choice of resting place. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The food was good quality pub grub and there was a good selection of cask ales. It is always a good sign to see a busy restaurant when you arrive. A comfortable place to pause your tour of Wales

This Hotel was marvellous we had a great overnight stay the food was excellent breakfast was very cosy with large portions we would highly recommend a stay the evening was spent eating fabulous food and warm interacting with the local people, the Hotel bar is within easy reach from the railway station a comfortable walk, There is a good bus service to places to visit This Hotel has turn an overnight stay into a great weekend thoroughly enjoyed by three old Railwaymen and John Smith

Stayed here whilst walking in Mid Wales. The room was clean, well stocked with coffee and tea and a good shower. Plenty of parking at the rear and a lively, friendly bar. Staff were good and helpful and the food was tasty. All in all a good stay..

Visited here several times. Location is good in the town center and you always recieve a warm welcome. Service is good and very fast. Good choice on the menu with veggie options. I love the Glamorgan sausages as I' m fkexitarian bn generally prefer veggie options but get fed up of generally having veggie lasagna or pizza. Hubby had the steak pie which was bursting with chunks of meat as opposed to the normal shredded meat. He said it was flavoursome too. Love the chunky chips!! There is always a nice atmosphere here. Would highly recommend
