Mottram Hall

We booked for a spa package which was so reasonable. This included a day in the spa, lunch and 3 course meal at night in the grill, night stay and breakfast. Everything was lovely but a massive downside is communication and training. Spa and hotel don’t seem to know who’s booked in with what package and we constantly had to remind staff. Our evening food was lovely but service needs major improvement. We waited 45mins for someone to take our order and clear plates. Wasn’t just us complaining there was a lot of people. And I’m not one to complain.

As a member of Mottram Hall golf, I find myself visiting the halfway house quite often and it is always such a fantastic experience. I had went for a round today as the weather was nice and was served by Jill who is always serving with a warm and welcoming attitude. Simply outstanding service every single time.

Just finished a couple of days at Mottram hall with a friend golfing, I wasn’t having the best time - a couple of issues in the hotel but the golfing team have been incredible. I was a pain and needed a phone charger and Ollie found me one when everyone in the hotel told me there was no chance, Jacob & Luis have been great, Ethan was super helpful and I can’t believe his brother played 72 holes in a day for charity. These guys turned an average weekend and elevated it. What a team.

We came for the afternoon tea experience, which was given as a gift. Our server, Srikar, was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble, attention to detail was paramount, and the service was first class. The afternoon tea was delicious as was the tropical green tea I chose. Overall a quality experience with a fantastic host. Thank you Srikar!

The most amazing stay here at Mottram! The staff were amazing, particularly the waiter we had a dinner called ‘Ryder’ he was exceptional The food was delicious and the menu well explained. Would 100% recommend for an over night visit. The spa was gorgeous and treatments 10/10.

Although the grounds and outside are lovely the hotel itself is dated and in need of a good clean. I stayed here for business so didn’t enjoy the spa facilities this time but have in the past and they were pretty good. However, the hotel itself is in dire need of a refurb. The rooms are small and dated. The room was pretty dusty and I have a pet spider who has clearly been here for some time judging by the cobwebs. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired, again it badly needs updating but also floor tiles were broken and pretty sharp when barefoot. Room service menus are incredibly limited and after a long drive I was hoping for more. Even if you do find something you would like to eat on the menu good luck ordering, the speed dials on the phone don’t connect to anything and if you call reception it just rings out then hangs up on you. That said after several goes I did finally manage to get through and the lady I spoke to was very helpful. Although the food leaves a lot to be desired. I know it’s pathetic to talk about TV when you’re away but like I say I was here for one night while working and the TV options are awful, not even basic channels and no ability to connect or login to any services. Overall, after seeing the outside I had high hopes but sadly felt very let down.

My daughter took me for afternoon tea as a treat. The staff were very friendly but extremely slow. I ordered Jasmine Green Tea, which was the first listed on the menu, sorry don't think we have that, so off they went to check, where they went to check I have no idea, perhaps they took a flight to China, so after what seemed an age the waiter came back with a scruffy nearly empty gold coloured bag and said is this what you want, it wasn't but we agreed to take it anyway. In the mean time the plates were put out and were filthy with black dust, these were eventually changed and the food eventually arrived. Food was ok but not earth shattering. The worst thing was the milk jug, (I have attached a photo), it had the remnants of a previous content and was cracked down the side. It really put me off my food as I wondered what else had not been washed properly and how clean was the kitchen that produced the food.

Visited here over night for my 30th birthday but sadly wouldn’t return. My expectations of this place were much higher . We arrived and headed to the spa where we spent the day. Thought garden area was a little cramped and more facilities could be added outside . Spa wasn’t overly big but relaxing in the hydro pool. Service was slow upstairs from the spa for lunch and they add supplement charges on to a few dishes , ended up paying another £26 We then checked into our bedroom at 5pm after the spa , was expecting a lot more for a luxury hotel- bedrooms were a little dated with an old fan that made such a loud noise. No black out Curtains just a small blind which lets a lot of daylight through in the morning. Headed to evening meal about 8 and service wasn’t great , felt staff were not overly friendly and didn’t go out their way much. Food was over priced and wasn’t anything special, portion sizes were really small. Breakfast was very poor, small area not stocked up throughout unless asked. We had to ask for another egg cooked differently. No coffee machine , they bring that over to you . Food or juice wasn’t labelled , so if you have an allergy be careful here. I have been to other spa hotels and this doesn’t compare , the food was the biggest down fall and friendliness of staff throughout hotel.

We recently attended a friend's wedding and we were so impressed with the gardens, infact we spent alot of time outside and bumped into two of the Gardners Darren & Jeff who we chatted with, they were so informative and friendly and a credit to the hotel, so our review is for the gardens as they impressed us more than the hotel, well done to all the Gardners.
