Pine Lodge

Visited here before two years ago, decided to return for our anniversary. We were very warmly greeted with tea and cake and shown up to a very comfortable room with adjoining sitting room with garden and valley views. Breakfast was delicious which included fresh fruit salad and a very good choice of cooked options. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was a lovely treat. It is a short walk along a scenic footpath into Lynton which makes it very convenient for eating out.

I stayed here for 3 nights last week and really did not want to leave. My family and I stayed at Pine Lodge around 36 years ago when I was a teenager and my happy memories of a lovely time there have now been replicated as an adult. On arrival I received a very warm welcome with coffee and cake offered to me. I stayed in room 5 which was a suite and absolutely spotless with lots of lovely little touches, like scissors to open pesky sachets on the hospitality tray. The breakfasts are amazing with lots of choice on offer and really set me up for the day. The Cottage is a pub about a 2 minute walk down the road and I had a very nice Thai curry there. I also had delicious tapas in the Oak Room which is a bit further up the road in Lynton. Both of these restaurants were on a list that Wendy emailed me a few weeks before I left home, which was a brilliant idea as i could suss out the menu and book tables before I arrived. There are lots of lovely walks to Lynton and down to Lynmouth, Valley of Rocks and Watersmeet and the car stayed on the driveway until it was time to go home. The Cliff Railway down to Lynmouth is great for little legs or if you just haven't the energy to walk back up the hills! I made the almost 4 hour journey from my home to Lynton on my own and though it is always a bit daunting holidaying on your own, Wendy and Steven are the most helpful of hosts and I felt very much at home. I really feel like I have made a couple of North Devon friends and will definately be coming back. All the 5* reviews for Wendy and Steven at Pine Lodge are well deserved.

Fantastic location, pine Lodge was perfect from the moment arrived... Very welcoming hosts... Room spotless and comfy.... Breakfast excellent with lovely fresh fruit... Nothing was any trouble plus added treats in room which we're appreciated after our long hilly walk & wonderful views . Would definitely return.
