River Ridge Lodge

River Ridge Lodge had so many great reviews, my wife and I thought we should check it out ourselves to see what was being done so well. We booked for 5 nights and can confirm that everything is being done well. Frauke and Mike are fantastic hosts. They recommended restaurants and sights to see along the South Shore. The restaurant recommendations were especially helpful as many restaurants were closed certain mid-week evenings. Their website is also a comprehensive resource that provides a wealth of information about shops, restaurants and hikes in the area. The rooms were spotless, roomy and very comfortable. Almost any amenity you could think of was available. The grounds were gorgeous and we especially liked spending some time each evening sitting by the boathouse along the river. The location of the lodge is very convenient to Mahone Bay, Chester and Lunenburg. But, we also took side trips to Halifax and Wolfville. River Ridge Lodge is a great place to stay, with wonderful hosts who made us feel as though we were at home. Can't wait to go back.

We just stayed four nights at River Ridge Lodge in their king room and had family across the hall in the two bedroom suite. The rooms and property were absolutely perfect; clean, comfortable, relaxing and a great central location to do day trips from. The a/c and fridge in each room was an added bonus for sure. The hosts were amazing; extremely accommodating and friendly with great suggestions for places to visit. The property, inside and out, is impeccably kept and there are a variety of places to sit out and relax with a book or play lawn games. We will definitely be back.

Our room (downstairs) was beautiful, very clean, had a comfortable bed, and had nice towels and amenities in the bath. Our hostess was very welcoming, full of information and suggestions, and made sure we were well taken care of. Staying here was a wonderful experience! The location is very quiet and relaxing, but still only a short drive from town. Easy access to the rail trail for biking.

River Ridge Lodge's location is perfect, away from the bustle of Lunenburg but close enough to all of the area's tourist attractions. The setting was quiet and bucolic. The rooms in a lovingly restored house had all the comforts of home and breakfast was fresh and filling with lots of variety. Frauke was very accommodating with our particular needs and shared suggestions for places to visit and directions for finding them. I would highly recommend River Ridge Lodge.

Beautiful place! All the details you would want on vacation. Very clean and comfortable, wonderful breakfast, and super nice people that own it. Very close to the water so enjoyed many walks. Will be back!

River Ridge Lodge B&B will not disappoint! Don’t hesitate to book this lovely and well appointed B&B in a beautiful setting that was exceptionally peaceful and quiet. Frauke warmly greeted us and we met her husband, Mike, and their beautiful animals, Charlie and Maxi. The made to order breakfast was excellent and she offered to accommodate any dietary needs. Early morning coffee delivered outside your door at your appointed time was over the top! We really enjoyed our visits at breakfast where Frauke shared many ideas on sightseeing and we discussed how to solve the problems of the world. We will miss this time with Frankie!
