My husband and I spent 4 nights at Potato Bush Camp recently. It was my first experience of a Safari and I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about the experience at Potato Bush Camp. The staff strike the perfect balance of being friendly as well as incredibly professional and knowledgeable. We were particularly lucky I feel with our wonderful guide Alex, Richard who looked after our meals and room in such a quiet, understated but brilliant way and Douglas the general manager. Oh and I couldn’t possibly forget John who was always ready with a chilled glass of rose. The rooms are beautiful, we loved relaxing after lunch with our feet in the plunge pool to cool off. All the drives, walks, boat trips and fishing expeditions (thanks to Clesher for the fishing) were varied and memorable and we had such a very happy time. We also loved the surprise lunch under a gazebo in the Lower Zambezi sitting with our feet in the water and the memorable supper in an utterly magical setting in the bush. I could not recommend Potato Bush more highly and would also commend them for their great efforts to be aware of and protect their environment.

Potato Bush far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we touched down at Jeki we received outstanding hospitality and service of the highest standard. Every meal was delicious with exceptional presentation. Our room was beautiful, well equipped and perfectly positioned above the river to witness elephants swimming, hippos grazing and the birdlife incredible. Game and bird sightings were spectacular, highlights were lion on a recently killed buffalo carcass, leopard coming for his share the next morning, honey badgers and and a goshawk with his hornbill prey flying beneath the tree canopy. The staff at Potato Bush have attention to detail fine tuned from exquisite surprise bush dinners to water lunches on sand banks, ankle deep in the Zambezi. We have had an incredible stay and ca not recommend Potato Bush highly enough!

Our second stay at PB and it didn’t disappoint. Since our last visit, the camp has been acquired by Green Safaris, we came onto to here from Shawa Luangwa ( also Green Safari, see posted review) and we now go on to Chisa Busanga and then Ila Safari lodge ( also part of Green Safaris and will post reviews accordingly.) Our memories of PB were special from last time around and I would say that Green Safaris have made some noticeable improvements already ( the communal area is more open and the food quality and presentation has also gone up a level.) The tents appear unchanged and combine space, authenticity and quality , with our terrace overlooking the Zambezi river. What has not changed is the service levels and attentiveness of the staff, some of which are still present since our previous visit. We would like to pay special thanks to is to Clement and Clesher , our guides for safari and fishing as well as Ashif who took care of us at the lodge and to the simply wonderful Faith , whom ensured everything ran to perfection. The location of PB is breathtaking, the sunsets on the water , the wildlife and the chance to fish ( albeit the Tiger fish did not play ball this time around 😀!) PB is our special place and we will most certainly be returning sooner rather than later. Thank you to the whole team at PB .

Our stay at Potato Bush Camp was absolutely incredible. The camp is situated on the bank of the Lower Zambezi River and in Lower Zambezi National Park. This location makes the wildlife viewing robust and abundant. During our stay, we were very pleased by our accommodations which were provided a perfect balance of luxury, comfort and open air safari experience. Our beds were very welcoming at the end of a long and busy day exploring the surroundings! The food was delicious and having a menu with a few items to select from for each course ensured everyone had something they enjoyed. Our guides were amazing and always attentive and very knowledgeable. They did a great job with our children too (young teenagers). All of the service and amenities were perfect and I would highly recommend this location for families along with adults traveling without children. This was certainly a highlight of our trip to Zambia that we will never forget!

Felt very at home at Potato Bush Camp, everyone was so lovely. We had the best fishing experience, I was very relaxed during my stay. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. We had the best lunch IN THE ZAMBEZI, truly unforgettable. I 100% recommend.

I travelled with my 15 yr old son. Our guide was Henry - we loved Henry :) he worked so hard for us and made the whole experience just wonderful. thank you for your patience with the fishing Henry. How he spotted that leopard with the dead honey. badger we will never know. The whole team at potato bush were so lovely too - thank you Faith for checking in with us daily. A highlight of our trip was witnessing 3 male lions rip into a deal gazelle - OMG was I terrified I have never experienced anything like it. Henry added to my trauma by intermittently turning his jeep lights off - yes it was in the middle of the night too. thanks for the nightmares Henry but also thank you so helping us to experience this truly magical place. we will be back.

LONG overdue review here as my wife and I stayed at Potato Bush to start our Zambia safari in September 2022. Everything from the start to the end was spot on. I won't highlight all of the unique experiences and services one gets pampered with when staying here to not ruin it. In fact, I'm glad we didn't read about some of these things on Tripadvisor in advance because we were caught 100% by surprise, and it made it all the better. Suffice it to say, from the moment we were picked up by our guide, Alex, and transported in a boat to the lodge on day one to the end of our stay, we were thoroughly impressed. As anyone who has been on safari before knows all too well, having a personal guide is a game changer. We were able to get out on a short game drive the night we arrived, and within about 10 minutes of leaving the lodge (location in the heart of the park is a major positive) we were witnessing a mother leopard feeding on an impala. Then, the mother leopard walked out of the bush and reunited with her cub. What a start! We had some of our best encounters ever in the days we stayed here. In truth, we had more leopard sightings here than we did in South Luangwa. Some of the best photos we've taken on safari come from our time in Lower Zambezi. Besides the game sightings, the landscapes in Lower Zambezi are breathtaking. The bottom line: Gorgeous, well-appointed rooms with great bedding, outdoor showers, and plunge pools for relaxation during the break between morning and afternoon drives 5-star service, including a dedicated butler to make sure you are taken care of from beginning to end (tea dropped off on your coffee table to help you rise for the early game drive) A very nice selection of food and wine for meals; all high quality Lower Zambezi is truly a gem (possibly the best park we've had the luxury of visiting), and Potato Bush is THE place to stay when you come here. Thank you Faith, Alex, Marlon, and everyone!
