If, while staying in the Hunter Valley, you require detached accommodation extending over a pond this may be just the place for you. However, you may wish to consider something else if: a) you expect any sort of welcome. After dark there is no lighting whatsoever marking the property or on the property itself. Driving to the accommodation is in pitch black with no lighting even to mark the front door. b) you value function/comfort as mush as style. No doubt, the rooms and pond make for attractive Instagram photos; however, the oversize Balinese bench seating is just that, there is no comfortable way to lie in the oversize bath, the oversize wooden doors leading to the deck obscure the view of the pond from inside the main room, and oversize lampshades leave little usable space on the bedside tables, etc. It is some years since my wife and I craved the degree of intimacy guaranteed by absence of a door between the bed and the toilet. c) you are staying for just one night. With 3pm check-in and 10am checkout (contrary to the 11am checkout quoted on L&F’s website), and no food available on site, there is little time to do anything other than go out for dinner and sleep before leaving the next day. Comparing our experience with those of reviewers over prior years, it seem the operator has lost interest in ensuring the first class experience suggested by a $440/night rate.
