We loved our 3 night stay at Mantenga Lodge. From the reception staff, to the restaurant staff and beyond, we only received super friendly and efficient service. The grounds and the pool are kept in pristine condition, as was our room upon arrival. It is a pleasure to walk into a room and find everything is spotless and everything works ie. air-conditioner, TV, great shower pressure etc. When one is in the Mantenga Lodge grounds, you actually forget that you are only a few hundred metres away from a shopping mall, an embassy and a residential area. Nestled inside a forest, one feels that you are hundred of kilometres from civilization. As mentioned before, the room was spotless and comfortable, which resulted in three very good nights sleep, so no fault there. The room rates are very reasonable for what you get and you do get a superior experience, but we did find the restaurant prices to be a bit high. Sure, the lodge is obviously aimed at the overseas tourist market, paying in Euro or Dollar, which must seem dirt cheap to them, but for us South Africans, we found the drinks and the food to be a bit pricey. On the food side, we enjoyed our breakfast (included in our room rate), every morning. The breakfast buffet caters for all tastes and the quality was good. Unless we missed it, there was no toaster available for us to toast our bread, which is about the only thing I found lacking. We bit the bullet and decided to try out the restaurant for dinner on our last night. In short, the Green Thai Curry, which my wife had was really good, but my Chicken Curry turned out to be very 'watery' and quite a small portion for the price. In summary, I would have to say that Mantenga Lodge is definitely one of the best and friendliest place we have ever stayed at and we will be back.
