From arrival to departure we had an excellent stay at the hotel. Staff were welcoming, friendly and happy to help. Rooms were great, good size, plenty of storage, spotlessly clean with conscientious caring room staff, very well maintained with lovely decor. Superb location for the slopes with three chair/cable lifts very close by allowing quick access up the mountain. The bar area was welcoming and homely, lots of space, log fires and an extensive choice of drinks/ cocktails. A lovely area to relax after a day skiing and for pre dinner drinks. An added bonus is the ski hire shop which is part of the hotel Snowstone, 10% discount for residents and personal service I have never experienced in 35 years skiing, skis out ready in the morning on the slopes to literally step into an ski off. We ate in the Brasserie twice. The first evening was great with good food and service but unfortunately our last evening was somewhat spoilt with a different experience. We were I think the first to be seated. Our drinks order was taken pretty much as soon as we sat down but we said we hadn't had chance to look at the menu as we had just sat down. We ordered and after that several tables were taken by other people. We had our starter but then waited quite some time before we got our main courses having sat and watched all the other tables after us get at least one and in some cases a second course. They also had second rounds of drinks, eventually we managed to catch someone to ask for water. We seemed to be on an invisible table as we tried to catch the attention of several people without success and each time they walked past out table. Eventually I saw a pizza and burger and thought it was ours but the waiter disappeared and wandered round the restaurant before finally coming back to the kitchen doorway where he consulted with a colleague. I stood and waved my arms and he brought the food over however by the time we got the food the burger and chips were OK but my pizza was lukewarm having taken some time to get from the kitchen to our table. Failing to attract the attention of a waiter once again my daughter helped herself to the tap water from the bar top. Why you ask didn't I complain that evening, one my daughter worked in hospitality for years and asked me not to cause a fuss and two we were leaving at 4.45am the next morning and didn't have time to wait for another pizza to be cooked for me.
