This is the last time I will ever book a hotel without reading the reviews first. Lesson learned. I booked and paid in full for this gross hotel through *******. I checked in online the day before the trip. As part of the process, I gave my card information in lieu of a deposit. There was a small pending charge. This, in my experience, is standard. However, when I went to check in, the clerk demanded $50 deposit. I let him know that I did online check in and my card was on file in case of incidentals. He kept pointing to the sign and demanding $50. I have NEVER in all my years of traveling have I had a hotel do this. Occasionally at other hotels, there will be a hold of $20 that drops off. Not a demand of $50 for a fully paid for room before they give you a key. They office was filthy and the weird demand for money made me extremely uneasy. I told them that I wanted a refund and I did not feel comfortable staying there. He shrugged his shoulders, told me it was too late, and I should have bought the “trip guarantee” if I wanted a refund. After hours of dealing with ******* customer service, and ******* and Super 8 pointing the finger at each other, I have a ruined trip and further emails and screenshots to have this resolved. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BOOKING HERE, let alone staying here.
