The Premier Inn at Leicester Station is incredibly well placed, especially if travelling by train. The hotel is a standard Premier Inn with some of the newer style rooms and its own car park. The first thing which strikes me about this venue is it's proximity to both the rail station and the Leicester town centre. On entering, the ground floor is large, airy, bright and has modern amenities and a nice feel. Staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and appeared to really know how to do their jobs. The room, while standard Premier Inn fare was immaculately clean and did not look worn. Being picky, the shower water pressure could have been better and given how slippery the bath was to stand in, something to hold on to would have been welcome. Room temperature was fine. I decided to eat breakfast at the hotel. The cooked items were very good indeed, the bakery items were average to below average with the exception of the croissants and pain du chocolat which were surprisingly good. The buffet was clean, well stocked and well presented. Perhaps the thing which made the breakfast service really stand out was the service. The staff member in charge of the breakfast was competent, efficient, friendly, attentive, and made you feel like you were staying at a world leading first class hotel. Overall I couldnt fault my stay, other than I noticed staff numbers were lacking and I did observe some new arrivals having to wait at an unattended reception desk to be assisted. This was not the fault of the staff members themselves.
