The Riverside

Stopped for lunch, overnight and breakfast either side of a nearby wedding. The room, converted from a tiny cottage (?) was charming and spacious, with a well stocked tea/ coffee facility. Food is good pub grub, I'd agree that 'Probably the Best Fries in the World?' probably are, but not for anyone on a diet!! Breakfast was a classic fry-up, but there's other choices too. The location, literally on the bank of the Thames, is a great one, probably best on a summers evening, rather than our wet day in late September, but such is life.

Popped in on our way home from Dorset to the midlands. It’s a very quaint pub. Lovely to sit outside when the weathers good. I had the bangers and mash which was lovely!. Husband had a burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. Great staff, lovely atmosphere and lovely location.

Went for lunch. Fabulous atmosphere , great food but nobody asked us if everything was ok . But would definitely come again. The view was amazing. One day we had ploughman's then fish and chips / the fishy basket . Good value for money as well. Hubby was impressed which is amazing !

I visited the Riverside pub in Lechlade with family and for the last time! The food was not great but worse yet the service we recieved was extremly poor. The girl behind the bar (Jade) in particular was rude, unhelpful and unwelcoming throughout our visit. I ordered a chicken and bacon salad and was very disappointed with what was brought out, it was mostly a plate of lettuce leaves - and not a great one at that with some parts wilting - but also there was a very sparce amount of pepper and one tiny slither of red onion that I would even question what the point to putting it on the 'salad' was. When she brought over an additional bread roll as part of a family members meal I said to her the salad wasn't great and she rolled her eyes and just as quick she took the plate and walked away. There was not once an attempt to ask what was wrong with the salad. I was quite shocked at how rudely she has dealt with the situation and thought maybe she would come back or send a manager over but she did not so I sat with family whilst they all ate their food around me. Upon leaving we spoke with a man ( Gareth) who looked to be in charge as he was wearing a shirt, and his people skills were really not any better, he simply stood there and said he sells 60+ salads a week and that I'm the only one with a problem and whilst turning to leave I recieved a sarcastic smile from Jade and could hear her giggling as we left - I honestly believe that my 6 year old has better manners than the staff I encountered today. I would not recommend the so called salads that they produce her and I would definelty not recommend the service!

Tried the ‘fussy burger’ this weekend at about £13 cheap gristly burger in a cheap white bap with nothing- absolutely no accompaniments such as lettuce, tomato, or onions or ketchup or coleslaw Awful Shame as wonderful location

Called into the Riverside for lunch - and it proved a great choice. There is extensive indoor and outdoor seating (with river views), and it can get quite busy. Despite this the staff were really relaxed and very competent. Our orders were taken quickly and drinks served without delay. The food was really good. A good hones plate of Ham, Eggs and Chips, and a rather wonderful Fisherman's Platter (if you like fish!) Great place!

I don't know what's with the bad reviews. I stayed overnight and had a great experience. The room was nice and comfortable. The bathroom was in need of fresh paint but it didn't ruin my stay. The rooms are just off the car park, not in it. There were no bright lights all night, if you pull the curtains. The food was delicious, portions were too big. I ate in a lovely setting, by the Thames while the sun was setting. The staff were friendly enough. The only thing I can fault them on is that they forgot I was sitting outside and lock the door.

We nearly didnt go here as some of the reviews were not very good.However it looked very inviting and buzzing. Lovely views over the river lots to watch as boat hire next door and pedalos swans and ducks. Very nicely set out very clean . Staff very pleasant nice selection of drinks. Very good menu reasonably priced. We ate light bites menu .Whitebait with salad and Garlic prawns with salad and french bread . Was delicious and good size portion nicely presented to. Then a stroll by the river very enjoyable will return !

Wasn’t overly impressed. Staff attitude was disinterested didn’t exactly get a warm welcome they acted like we were a bit of a nuisance interrupting their chat. Was advised couldn’t order good till 6 so we ordered some drinks and went back up to the bar just after 6 and asked for some menus the response was over there. Ordered some food which wasn’t too bad . Overall food not bad nice view of the river but staff need to be a bit more positive and less moody.
