Lake Rabun Hotel

We stayed here for one night on our way home. The room was snug yet nicely appointed. This place is clean! Everywhere you look there are nestled and inviting spots for sitting and visiting with others both inside and outside. This place actually seemed magical to us. Our room had a shared balcony over a man-made waterfall and was so comforting to sit out with a drink and decompress! We had made dinner reservations and breakfast reservations. It was very nice to know that we could just leave our rooms and go downstairs to some very tasty food without having to go up and down the winding road! While the food was quite tasty, the service for dinner was quite lacking. It almost felt like they felt that they were doing me a favor to just bring me my food. For the prices, I expected better service. But with that being said, the food was tasty! Please note that there is be no TV in your room, but who needs it anyways! And there is not individual refrigerators in your room. There is a shared refrigerator on each floor and it is based on the honor system. I was a little concerned at first as I was putting some beer and wine in there, multiple people also staying there said that they have never had a problem and they were repeat customers. And that was correct! We intend to come back here again!

Visited two nights last week. Wonderful, historic inn. Dinner in restaurant first evening was excellent. It was first night for server and she was apologetic but flawless! Our room (the "Lakemont" room) was small but efficiently designed to permit plenty of space. Morning coffee right outside our door and breakfast served in mornings to meet our needs. A lot of hikes nearby including Panther, Angel and Minnehanna Falls. Highly recommended!

Had a very good meal with friends at the restaurant which is one of their favourites. We drove from Martin, Georgia and it was worth the trip. Good food enjoyed by us all and friendly service and a quaint traditional atmosphere. Particularly enjoyed their cocktail suggestions!

The Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant is really best for two types of guests: (1) Nature tourists who just need a bed for the night; and (2) Wedding Parties where the Hotel knows you're coming well in advance. And they can plan accordingly. We stayed at the Lake Rabun Hotel because we had next-day business in the Lakemont area. We arrived Sunday evening, planned to be gone all day Monday, then planned to return Monday night for a nice dinner and off to bed. The Lake Rabun Hotel couldn't deliver. When we arrived Sunday, we were told dinner was canceled due to lack of staffing. So we had to drive to nearby Clayton to dine. Which was okay, but the Lake Rabun Hotel is on a blind curve on a mountainside two-lane road with no lights, no road shoulder, and stone walls and ditches only a foot away from your car tires. Not a great place to have to venture off-site at night. Monday morning's breakfast was again very limited and was self-service. There just wasn't enough employees. In fact, the entire time we were there, we only saw three employees on the premises. Even the upkeep outside suffered from lack of maintenance. When we were told Monday morning that their restaurant wasn't open for dinner Monday night and Tuesday night either, we went ahead and checked out early. For our canceled night, we got a credit for a future visit. So again, the Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant is best for Nature tourists - that don't need much service, just a bed - and for wedding parties where the Hotel knows you're coming in advance and can staff the hotel properly. On a positive note, the hotel is historic, quaint, rustic, and the staff we met were friendly.

Excellent 5 star Dining Experience! Filet was so tender! Fantastic food for breakfast, lunch & dinner in onsite restaurant. Nice selection of beer, wine & spirits at the bar. Beautifully decorated Historic Hotel. Very friendly staff. Clean & quaint rooms. Must be able to do stairs. On-site parking.

We have experienced this restaurant many times over the past 15 years. Most recently during Mother's Day. We have seen this business change through various management and chef changes. Consistency has proven illusive. Staffing has always been a challenge with serving staff generally making effort but lacking professional competency and experience. Unfortunately, we were misled (lied to) this last experience with management being dismissive and deflective when made aware of the disappointing experience. We will not be back. Consumer beware.

I want to start out by saying that this place was a dream come true. We were transported back to a time where the only things that mattered was the company you were surrounded by. My new husband and I eloped and spent 4 days in Fish Camp 2. We spent our mornings with coffee and hotel breakfast, which was rustic but could easily be served at any high end restaurant. The people who were working started their day with us with genuine conversation and connection and interest in our lives. When we dined at the restaurant in the evening, the service was top tier, the food was out of this world, the ambience was magical. I have nothing but the highest praise to give to Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant, its business, its hospitality, and especially their people. I am beyond elated that Lake Rabun will forever be a part of this chapter in our story.

This is our second stay. We’ve stayed in the main building both times. Maintenance and general upkeep seem to be less than before. Nothing updated or upgraded over the last few years. We’re not sure about their dinners, however breakfasts seem to be closer to single option short-order style. Will look for something else in this beautiful area.

This is a quaint and cozy place. It is a great place to meet other travelers and spend quality time with your spouse or friends. It is very rustic place that has a mix of modern with old style furniture. Our room had a nice gas fireplace, a very comfy queen bed with beautiful views; no TV in our room which allowed for good conversation. There is a nice balcony on the second floor where we met another couple. Dinner was great at the hotel along with a pre meal charcuterie board and wine in our room. Breakfast was included and is made to order which was very good.
