Hotel du Glacier

I’m not a particularly prolific reviewer but having just come back from a last-minute ski trip to La Thuile I have to contribute and add to the numerous glowing reviews for this hotel and Susanna who made my stay extremely pleasant by virtue of being such a great host. Every morning I’d be greeted at breakfast with a large steaming jug of coffee and then indulge myself in some amazing croissants along with the rest of the breakfast buffet. When I had my list of places to eat for dinner, she’d ring up and get me a table booked. Her, her husband and team were always busy making sure everyone was looked after and it was nice to chat with her most evenings. You really feel like she’s happy to have you and takes an interest in everyone who checks in. The hotel itself is about a 10 minute talk from the centre of town where most of the restaurants are (although very close to Lo Tata where I had 2 amazing meals and great service during my week away) and 15 mins to the more modern complex near the gondola where the supermarket is. There’s a ski bus stop just outside and it’s a 10min walk to the side of where some of the runs end converge in front of the gondola, from which you can scoot down to the Bosco Express chairlift to get up the mountain. Sidenote: since the ski bus runs in a one-way loop it’s preferable (weather-permitting) to walk back to the hotel at the end of the day as it’s essentially at the end of the route, making it 5 mins to the gondola but an age to get back. La Thuile isn’t a party town by any means but the hotel’s location means it’s dead quiet at night making for a sound night’s sleep. I found the bed and pillows comfortable and the rooms are by default toasty but can easily be adjusted if you prefer it to be cooler. There were plenty of plug sockets and the bathroom had all the usual essentials, with the shower getting up to temperature very quickly. The ski boot room is out the front so each morning it was quick and easy to grab my stuff then catch the bus. If you’re coming to La Thuile to ski or do something in the summer then definitely take this place into consideration if you want something a little more personal then the giant hotel near the gondola station (which when I left was about to have 500 kids arrive for a school ski trip). Were I ever ski in La Thuile again I would 100% go back here!

We've just returned from a really wonderful week at Hotel du Glacier, Susanna and her team looked after us exceptionally well. As other reviewers have said, every part of the hotel is spotlessly clean, our bedroom was lovely and warm, very well appointed, and had a really comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was varied, generous and delicious. Eating out every night also enabled us to try several of the many good local restaurants, and Susanna was a great help in making recommendations and reservations. Previously we've stayed at La Planibel apartments in La Thuile (which are good if you have young children) but now we would choose Hotel du Glacier every time! Thank you Susanna and Corrado for making us feel so welcome!

Booked this through Crystal for our snowboarding holiday. Fantastic Hotel B&B. Good location, short walk (5/10 mins)from the centre and Gondola. Bus stop close by as well. Room had plenty of space and cleaned/made up every day. Excellent continental breakfast. Ski/board storage room was warm and plenty of heated pegs to dry boots at the end of the day. Susanna was a great host that booked all our evening meals saving any hassle on busy nights. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Great experience in Hotel du Glacier this week. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. We had lovely breakfast each morning. The Staff are great and very thoughtful and will book restaurants in the local town for you. Large comfortable beds and very clean rooms. Will certainly come back.

Wonderful. Family run and very homely. In fact you are so well looked after by Susanna you feel that you are a real member of the family. Our room was very nicely appointed with quality regional furniture - and importantly the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is continental with a good selection and freshly baked Croissant. There is a small but well stocked bar with a very comfortable lounge. The hotel is B&B only but you are minutes away from a good number of excellent restaurants - and the good news is - that at breakfast Susanna will advise you and kindly offer to book you in - I suspect practically guaranteeing you a table. We've stayed in numerous hotels in La Thuile, but to paraphrase Ms Tina Turner - this is "simply the best".
