Chora Kythnos Suites Adults Only

This is a gorgeous boutique hotel, thoughtfully and beautifully designed and nestling in the hillside on the edge of Kythnos Chora. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming, and my room - a junior suite - was fabulous with a large, comfortable bed; a great en-suite shower room; a sitting area and an outdoor covered seating area. Room decoration was largely in restful neutrals - whites, greys, natural wood. Bathroom towels were fluffy and white and were replaced when you wished them to be; a bathrobe and slippers were provided, along with toiletries (Zealots of Nature). There was a decent hairdryer available, not always the case in hotels. Breakfast choice was super. My go-to was brown bread, butter and cheese; fabulous fresh orange juice; coffee; yoghurt with local honey; and the most generous fruit bowl I’ve come across anywhere. I would tend to have some watermelon with my yoghurt but keep the remainder (banana, peach or plum, apple or grapes) for my return from the beach. It was also possible to select from boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, mini croissants and cake. Breakfast options for the next day were provided on an A4 sheet with a pen each morning alongside that day’s breakfast. You could choose to have breakfast at your room if you didn’t want to sit on the veranda (also covered) with other guests at one side of the pool. The room was equipped with a fridge, complimentary bottle of water when you arrive, and coffee machine with both regular and decaf coffee options. I didn’t make use of this but it was possible to get drinks or light meals (salads, pasta, fruit, yoghurt for instance) from the bar during the day. It was a short walk into the Chora where there was a good selection of tavernas/restaurants and a brilliant gyra pitta shop plus cafe bars for evening drinks. There were supermarkets too, an olive wood craft shop, a couple of clothing shops including one specialising in children’s clothing, and a ceramics shop where you could actually see some of the pots being made. If you’re not a walker, or in the hotter months of the year, then it would be wise to hire a car to see the island. Also, in September when I visited the public bus service is less in evidence. I stayed for 6 nights and managed to walk to Kolona, Episkopi, Apokrousi, Schinari and Loutro, and Agia Eirini beaches - all very attractive with great swimming. I intend to come back, hire a car and see many others on a future occasion. In the evening, having returned from the day’s adventures, it was lovely to sit and watch the sun go down in the pool area whilst enjoying a nice drink. The bar officially closed at 7pm when I was staying, although the staff always asked if you’d like something else before they shut up for the evening. It’s understandable because the Chora is so close by and most people would want to head up there for the evening. Staying three nights at the Chora Kythnos Suites, was a wonderful experience, the hotel is designed in a modern Cycladic Style, and is immaculately kept. Our room was beautiful, and had a lovely plunge pool. The breakfasts were delicious, and there was the option to have breakfast on your terrace or by the main pool. Every member of staff was courteous and professional, but a special mention must go to Jenny who was always on hand to offer help and advice on local places of interest, restaurants,and taxi bookings etc, and she was amazing, seeing the funny side of it, when we arrived absolutely soaking wet following an eventful crossing from Athens!! Thank you Mr Andreas, Jenny and all the Staff for helping make such wonderful memories, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon
