Abad Whispering Palms

Whilst on a trip through Kerala we stopped at the Whispering Palm resort. The hotel is a high standard, set in beautiful grounds. The staff are all helpful and friendly. The hotel has a pool which has amazing views and is the best place to sit and relax as the sun goes down. The restaurant serves great food all freshly prepared. We would highly recommended this resort to stay at.

This was our third stay at an Abad hotels and all have been good, which, like the Whispering Palms I have rated 4 stars. The hotel has a beautiful 'Kerala vibe', relaxed, great staff, efficient and friendly. The rooms here are lovely, spacious and unique although the woodwork is all rather tired. The food is ok but not amazing. The grounds are magnificent and the location is stunning. I would stay here again, especially as there is so much to do locally. One point I would like to make is that in all seven hotels we have stayed in, do not have toilet facilities for the tour drivers - these hotels all deal with tourists travelling around India, but drivers are not allowed in the hotel. I feel the hotels should provide a washroom.

Excellent staff and property. I booked three rooms, two garden villas and one pool villa. The garden villas felt a bit dated but i guess they were going for the rustic look. One of them had a plumbing issue, but the staff were quick to act and arranged to clean right after. the pool villa was excellent, very good privacy, private pool, and a living room+ bedroom and spacious bathroom with shower. Was very comfortable. The restaurant, front office , maintenance, security, & housekeeping staff were all pleasant and helpful. This shows the commitment to good service from the management. The breakfast and dinner buffet at the restaurant was good as well. We did try local restaurants for lunch. Only gripe i had with the property was the slow wifi. and maybe the bicycles in need of urgent repair. But overall i would rate the property 8/10 it definitely isn't a 5 star property but the staff make you feel like royalty.

The location of this hotel is amazing and the staff are very friendly. However, the beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced, consisting of a worn sprung mattress on a wooden box. Pillows were not that comfortable either and the bedding looked very tired. Sadly I did not get much sleep for the 2 nights we stayed here. The pool is lovely, however there was only 1 parasol available and not enough sun beds, so it was not very comfortable for our group of 21 people. When someone asked about parasols, they were advised they were damaged in a monsoon! There is no air conditioning in reception and dining room, just ceiling fans so it was quite uncomfortable at meal times. Our room did not get serviced during our stay so I had to ask someone for extra bottled water. We did a lovely sunrise boat trip from the hotel. There is also a spa on site offering treatments at a good price, however don’t expect the luxury of western spas.

When we arrived at the resort, our room was not ready. When they took us to our room, there was a cot and dirty dishes outside the room, probably from the previous guests. We had to ask them to take that stuff away. The room was large with a king size bed. It had a fridge and a kettle and tea/coffee making supplies. The bathroom could definitely use an upgrade. The tub was old and rusty and the shower curtain could use a wash. The restaurant had a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well they had a menu for those who didn’t want the buffet. At breakfast, there was a variety of Indian foods, plus they had pancakes, chicken sausages and you could order eggs. The toaster didn’t work very well. For a snack, we had the starters, fried squid and spring rolls. Both were very tasty. The staff at this resort were good and helpful. Asha, who works in the restaurant was very nice and was attentive. The resort had a pool which was lovely on a hot day but the water seemed a bit murky so maybe the pool needed a cleaning. They provide towels for the pool.
