Thansur Tatai Eco Resort

Mi marido y yo nos alojamos (lamentablemente sólo) por una noche en este encantador hotel fluvial a principios de este mes. Nos encantó tanto... el hecho de que nos recogieran "debajo del puente grande" con un traslado en barco organizado por el hotel, el propietario en realidad también era el barco, fue genial. Todo el personal fue amable y servicial. Una vez que llegamos allí, estábamos emocionados de sentirnos cómodos en la rústica pero hermosa habitación flotante por la noche. Luego, simplemente salga, no al pequeño porche de su habitación, el agua tibia del río está ahí para que pueda nadar por la mañana (lo que hicimos a la mañana siguiente antes del desayuno). Ojalá hubiéramos podido pasar al menos 3 noches más allí, para disfrutar plenamente del entorno tranquilo y los sonidos de la jungla que nos rodean. Qué experiencia tan hermosa y serena ofrece este lugar (desde kayak hasta paseos en barco por la jungla...). Cuando te despiertas, sólo se oyen los sonidos del agua, los pájaros y los monos aulladores desde lejos. En conjunto, definitivamente recomendaríamos Koh Andet Eco Resort a cualquiera que viaje a esta zona bastante remota dentro de Camboya.

It could have been a delightful stay. I truly understand how hard it is to serve guests, which is why I rarely leave negative feedback. The property was a bit dusty, but that’s something we could overlook (we are relaxed since it’s hard for us 3 to get together on a trip) The main issue was with the food service. We had been informed about the available times to order food, and since it’s a remote area, we were really happy to know that option was available. However, in reality, it was quite different. There were times I had to look around everywhere to find someone, and even after texting, I received no response—not even a “seen” notification for like an hour I guess. To be honest, they could have simply informed us in advance if there would be a period when no one would be around the property. Therefore, we could have be prepared or ordered something in advance. Lastly, I sent a message regarding the bill, but again, no reply. On a positive note, the boatman was very nice.

My wife got pneumonia before we travelled and we couldn’t go to the hotel as planned. Despite giving lots of notice, and repeated requests from *******, the hotel refused to let us cancel. They were within their legal rights, but this was mean-hearted.

Totally overrated resort. Not maintained at all, with pontoons and paths having rotting boards, dangerous! Nothing to do, staff barely speaks English, not even cool drinks, if they have any. Very uncomfortable furniture, very little to eat. Dinner was still tasty, very simple but tasty. Breakfast was terrible. We booked for 2 nights but left immediately after breakfast after just 1 night.

The Koh Andet Eco Lodge in Tatai is a 5-hour bus ride from Phnom Penh and a 25-minute boat ride to the lodge. The boat leaves from Tatai Bridge and the scenic journey was pleasant. Upon approaching the lodge, you first see the impressive floating villas, which made me feel that this was a special place. However, my positive first impressions suddenly disappeared when the welcome drink was a glass of water. My floating villa was at the end of the wooden walkway. It was spacious and well-designed with a ceiling and stand-up fan. The comfortable bed had a mosquito net. Outlets were far from the bed. The bathroom had an unusual shower which took them 2 days to fix the hot water heater. Also, I was never informed that there would be no water one morning because they had to fix the water pump. It was a surprise when I tried to take a shower and there wasn't any water. Shampoo and the soup were in little ceramic containers. There is a safe, but it was locked, and it also took them also 2 days to open. Coffee and tea are provided but no kettle. 2 plastic bottles of water were provided which aren't very eco-friendly. The view was spectacular but the chairs on the porch didn't have any cushions which was also seen on the deck chairs throughout the lodge. Even though it's a floating village and you could jump into the water, there was no way for you to get back up to your villa. One hour before I departed the owner installed a raft that you can use to get back onto the porch. Unknown to me, daily housekeeping is only available upon request. Even though I requested it on the 2nd day, it wasn't automatically done till the 3rd day. Additionally, they never found the key to my villa. There is one restaurant that serves overpriced food that is at best average. The menu is Asian and there isn't anything for kids except french fries ($6). No fruit is served at any meals. Breakfast is from a set menu that includes eggs, but the portions are small and not satisfying. No peanuts are served with your drinks, and they ran out of Singh Beer (served because it's close to Thailand) one day. It can take a long time for your food to be served. It might be hard to find a waiter during the day at the restaurant. Internet is only available in the restaurant vicinity and not in the rooms. It's not fast. One day, the owner forgot to pay for the internet, and it wasn't available the whole day. The lodge has a jungle-like magical feel with lots of greenery and trees, and both the tree and floating villas blend in perfectly with the environment. There are 2 places to swim but the wooden deck chairs have no cushions. A small waterfall is about a 20-minute walk from the restaurant, but I wish there was more signage on the way. It's definitely worth going to. There are a few safety issues at the lodge. First, at night the walkway to the floating villas is only lit halfway, so make sure you can use the torch on your phone.
