The Killians Boutique Hotel

After 2 flights from UK, this was our first time in India and also our first hotel for 2 nights. About an hour to get here from Kochi airport. The hotel is so central in Fort Kochi, it’s a lovely old building opposite the RoRo ferry terminal to Vypen. You can walk everywhere from here to all the little shops and cafes. It’s a busy place and the tuktuks will stop you constantly to ask if you need a lift. Our room was very spacious and lovely and cool in the 33 ‘C heat. Breakfast is adequate and the waitresses are so helpful and friendly. We ate here one evening… the coconut rice is lovely…. The following evening we ate next door in Fort Kochi restaurant where Peneese was so helpful and looked after us so well. It’s a bustling little area and the hotel has everything you need for a short stay.

We were extremely pleased with the location of the hotel. It’s an ideal place to stay to get to know Fort Cochi. It’s about 10 minutes walk to pretty Princess Street where all the lovely shops are. There are lots of places to eat within easy walking distance and right next door there’s a great bar/restaurant where you can get cold beers, decent local wine and delicious local food at a very reasonable price. If you don’t want to walk, there is always a line of Tuk Tuks outside of the hotel to take you anywhere you want to go for about Rs.100. The only criticism of hotel was breakfast. It was the most disappointing breakfast that we have had in our five weeks away travelling. ,. One morning we were told it wasn’t a buffet breakfast that particular morning, it was A la carte. However. there were no menus available and we could not make ourselves understood. The waitresses spoke no English and constantly misunderstood what we were asking. for. It was extremely frustrating and we gave up in the end and went into town to get breakfast. A menu to point st would have made all the difference. Other than that.. we loved the hotel and would definitely go back. Thank you to the lovely receptionist Anina for always welcoming us with a big smile and answering all our travel questions.

We were greeted with a sleepy front desk reception at 8pm, the car guard and bag attendants were quick and efficient. Had to change rooms for one of our guests due to a non working tv, only for the same guest to have a terrible night due to a non working air conditioner in extreme humidity for an 80 year old. We were warned about this hotel but I had read that there was a recent renovation to I expected changes. Sadly this was not the situation. The porters were helpful and requests were attended to timeously during the day but the night staff was difficult to get a hold off. We did but get assistance with check out baggage and the card systems were not working for closing our bill. We had to use our cash which was not the preference. The breakfast included was nothing to write home about. Minimal and basic with 2 fruit options, cereal, toast and a few hot options. Sad given the pricing. Overall, the accommodation retains its rating for the location close to all the colonial historical sites and ferry to vypin. I suppose the staff try their best but need the owners to step up and make some much needed changes and updates. Overall, we salvaged the stay despite the disappointment.

Great experience. Very helpful people. Rooms are aesthetic and food is great. Will help to have some basic accessibility features for seniors and differently abled, like wheelchair etc. Faces some maintenance issues with lift and hot water. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

This hotel has an excellent location a stone's throw from all of Fort Kochi's sightseeing, restaurants and right next to the ferry pier. The off-set garden gives you a blissful serenity off the main road and bustle and bustle. The restaurant has a very limited number of choices, and the breakfast is very limited past 9am (but we opted for ordering Masala omelettes, which were yummy). The bougainvilleas nicely frame the balconies set around the pool and courtyard and it feels very colonial and authentic in its architecture. The hotel is secured with CCTV and guards and all the staff are very accommodating and friendly. There is a bar next door, but it isn't noisy in the evening and there are plenty of tuk-tuks outside to take you around Fort Kochi and Mantancherry for the day. The rooms are massive and offer all your basic needs. Overall, a very pleasant stay!!

This is a great hotel in a good location in Old Kochi. It is near to a variety of eating places and a tourist market and within walking distance of some key attractions. The hotel has comfortable, well furnished rooms with complimentary water. Breakfast has a range of dishes, some Indian and some continental dishes. The staff are friendly and courteous and keen to make the stay a good one. We had some problems with our air con and the staff responded quickly and moved us to a different room.
