Cottons Hotel and Spa

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and our choice was primarily due to its convenient location and excellent breakfast. It is very close to the airport and very quiet at night, surrounded by farms and grassland. We love the breakfast because it is not a typical buffet. Instead, you can choose from a menu with a great variety of options, all of which taste wonderful. The restaurant's decoration is also lovely, and you will be more than satisfied with the portions. The restaurant staff are passionate, friendly, and helpful. One point to note is that the reception area often has guests around, which is just an observation and neither positive nor negative. The receptionists always do their best and are very nice and professional. However, the room design is a bit outdated.

Hotel was decent but the hotel staff wasn’t accommodating with the requests

Lovely premise, lovely staff, and lovely experience. I booked their Girls Night In package, and it was a great experience. We not only got to utilise the pool facilities during our stay (the outdoor hot tub and sauna/spa were amazing, followed by a soothing lie on the loungers!), but we were able to choose 2 DVDs to watch in our room along with an amazing platter of food! We were vegetarian, and the quality and amount of food did not disappoint. The rooms were comfortable, with a cozy bed and choice of pillows (you can even call reception and request special pillows if you have a preference) to give our relaxed and full bodies a gorgeous night sleep. The next morning we were able to have a nice dip in the pool followed by a full hot breakfast and unlimited continental breakfast - their freshly made croissants were amazing. The staff were very, very cordial and made the whole stay a relaxing night in. We truly enjoyed our experience, and can’t wait to visit again!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the Cottons over the bank holiday weekend. We were checked in swiftly and given our keys. Could have benefitted from information on the Spa and also confirmation of what time our table bookings were (we’d forgotten the latter!) Room was lovely, spacious and clean. Bed was massive and so comfy and good to have a choice of pillows. We also liked the complimentary slippers and fluffy robe! We liked the idea of fresh milk from the machine as opposed to UHT milk. Same with the water. We dined in the restaurant and the food was a little underwhelming. The staff were lovely, all friendly and chatty but the food was a bit of a let down. I had the burger, it was £20 and I was really quite sad that it wasn’t homemade, it was processed. I love a good burger but this was reminiscent of something you’d get off a burger van. The chips were also disappointing too. Breakfast the following morning however, was really nice, plenty of choice and again the staff were a credit to the hotel. We were lucky to have excellent weather so made full use of the spa facilities, it was busy but we managed to use the hot tub and have a sit out with some Prosecco, just bliss! We also used the gym which was excellent, miles better than the gym I pay monthly for at home! We got an Uber into Knutsford (£6) which had a bustling night life, loads of bars and restaurants. You can walk but we’d had a few drinks so decided against it! All in all, we had a fantastic stay, we’d highly recommend the hotel (we already have!) and are already planning on returning.

Booked for a cheeky two night break at the Cottons. The staff were all friendly and polite . The bar served a good range of drinks, where we had cocktails also a pint of draught beer which came from a well kept cellar. We ate in the restaurant twice , all the food was freshly cooked. We had an afternoon in the pool and outside jacuzzi sipping our prosecco . Breakfast served hot and plenty to eat. My only criticism on breakfast would be that using a Cumberland curl makes the portion to big I would suggest using the same quality sausage but not so large as to avoid food waste .

Stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday, after a few hiccups with the room everything else went smoothly. Many thanks to Amber on reception for assisting us with the issue. We used the pool, jacuzzi and sauna, steam room and the gym whilst we stayed here, all of which were great facilities although busy we never felt crowded.

The fish batter was soggy and grey. I got food poisoning. When I told the waitress about the fish, she said "did you check it first". Hardly a professional response. Another waiter told me he had a sore throat so I asked for a different waiter as I am vulnerable. This was met with disdain. The next day a colleague member of staff let a door slam in my face as a kick back to the above. My imlression is you are not allowed to complain. None of the staff were polite. Most were aggressive and somewhat menacing to me. I felt insulted. The food choice in general is poor. The waiters/waitresses do not know about the wines on offer to guide one's choice nor did they offer the full wine list with tasting notes. The bar staff were much better. In addition, they refused a refund for the undercooked fish meal.

Had a lovely 3 day stay here. The positive points we experienced were a fantastic evening meal and lovely breakfasts, nice room with fridge, polite and helpful staff. The milk and water dispensers are a fantastic idea. There are a few things that could do with attention. The room could do with some drawers for your belongings, there is definitely room to install some. Also we were not keen on the mattress topper on bed but this could just be personal preference. The only major downside we experienced was the afternoon tea which was below standard. It was included in the package we purchased but priced at £30 per person I would have complained had I had paid separately. Cakes had definitely seen better days and not really good value for money. Worth about £10 not £30. All in all we would return if in the area but give the afternoon tea a miss.
