Terrace, British Columbia was the starting point for a trip into the Great Bear Rainforest. Because I had never been to Terrace, I decided to book two days prior to, and two days after, my Great Bear adventure. With all the Covid restrictions and concerns, I opted to reserve a room at The Lodge at Skeena Landing. I’m glad I did. It was a much better option for me than staying at a chain motel. Both my pre and post rooms were very roomy with a king bed, couch, lounge chair, fireplace, mini fridge, and outdoor patio. Other than venturing out for dinner and breakfast, I relaxed in the room, took in the view of the trees, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The check-in and check-out were contactless—a key was left in a lock box with combination. One of the best room features is the heated bathroom floor. Stepping out of the shower onto that floor was a delight! The Lodge is a bit off the beaten track, but I enjoy walking, even in the rain, so the location was fine for me. There are two restaurants at the location, but they are not open seven days a week. One serves breakfast and lunch. The other lunch and dinner. There are other excellent options in Terrace, but they are about a 40 minute walk. A taxi is always an option if you don’t have a rental car.
