Sunrise Cove Holiday Apartments by Kingscliff Accommodation

Our unit was very disappointing for the high price paid. Expected 4 star luxury and barley made 3. 'NO' Air Conditioning. Stayed here 4 years ago and was optimistic that things would have improved, I was wrong. Frypans in a very poor state, looks like they have not been updated since our last visit. Oven does not work, but the grill does. The shower screen leaked to much, nearly the whole bathroom floor gets wet and the extractor fan does not work. This unit could be a 5 star with a little TLC and spending a tiny bit of its income on some more comfortable facilities and furniture. However the bed was comfortable, the views and location is excellent. Dining suite perfect for a large family meal, a game or similar if you are travelling in a group. Great for the middle aged as there is not much there for Party People or young children apart from the beach. For us, the location was perfect, quiet, handy to shops and restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. I would think twice about staying here during the summer months without an A/C to cool the place down a bit or a decent arm chair to relax in.

What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. The apartments are very well fitted out and presented. Each comes with a garage (2.1 m max. height) and just the most lovely views from all the apartments. Check-in is a bit of a hassle as there are a few passwords and stuffing around but the small inconvenience is well worth it. A great place to chill and enjoy some good food at a couple of the local restaurants. The coffee scene is well-catered for with a number of charming sidewalk venues. For bicycle riders there are a number of very well-service bike paths (north and south) with rides along the beachfront and right up to and along the Tweed River. A great spot for young children with lots of space and a nice pool for residents. A lot calmer and prettier than Byron and super for a lovely walk along the beach or estuary.

We have just returned home after a 2 night stay at no 21 Sunrise Cove. A lovely break away spoilt by the standard of the accommodation and lack of service provided by management. Cleanliness was appalling. None of the floors had been mopped. The kitchen floor had a big lump of mud-like substance. God knows it was. We had to clean it up using wet wipes. The verandah was dirty and needed to be mopped. We had to wash all the dishes as they had not been cleaned - eg all glassware had finger marks and coffee/tea cups were stained. The staining came off when washed properly. No washing up liquid provided so we had to buy our own to clean the dishes The bathrooms were dirty and had to be cleaned before we could use them. When we arrived the A/C was going full blast, so much so that the mirror in the lounge was totally obscured by condensation and all the glasses in the kitchen cupboards were soaking with condensation. We phoned 5 times to the provided number to report the problem but no one ever answered our calls. We left a message on the answer system but still did not receive a response. We ended up walking into town and reporting the issue at the El Paradiso reception. It was not fixed during our stay though someone did turn up on day 2 of our 3 day stay so that we could explain the issue in detail. We just had to switch it off using the isolator switch. Hence, the apartment was not air conditioned during our stay. When you are paying over $390 per night you expect at least 4 star accommodation and service, not 1 star or less. The operational management and administration of the place is very poor and is doing a huge disservice to both owners and holiday makers. It's appalling.

Where do I start. First they couldn't find my booking at check in. This was at 2pm so xhexk in time. I decided to go to lunch while they worked it out, and they were meant to call during this time to let me know the room was sorted. Returned to reception an hour and a half later to be told they still couldn't find the booking. I continued to wait and finally they found it, but put me in room 24 at the back of the hotel. It had a broken door handle, Mold in the bathrooms, a broken sliding door, the whole apartment was dirty. The next morning I had a gentlemen walk into my apartment unannounced, unlocked the door and let himself in. He was from the hotel and surely would have been told the apartment was booked, obviously not though. To top it off they overcharged me $192 which I am still fighting to have refunded. Odette the reception person rang after I sent an in-depth email about my concerns from the stay. She was hopeless and blamed everyone and anything, hut was no help and really didn't seem very apologetic. I wish I had read reviews before I booked the hotel as they are all very accurate. I would never recommend anyone to stay at sunrise cove

Honestly for $490.00 a night plus $$20.00 for parking acomadation it really bad. We were told our room was ready it was not. See pictures i was worried about the reviews. And they are pretty true. Accomodation is really bad. There is not even milk for a coffee. Do not stay here.

we received all their rules many times by email but they dont live up to many of them. while we were waiting a customer wasnt happy and our process of getting the keys wasnt easy. we paid the rip off $20 a night for the lock up garage only to find when we got to the unit there was no key (the last people they said took it back home with them! - didnt have spares) took us 3 minutes to realize the place was dirty. linen had stains/ floor was sticky/ so was just about everything in the cupboards - glasses werent cleaned/oven etc. stains on the lounge. it went on. so we got the cleaners back and the head cleaner was so rude and made me so upset because i talked to one of his cleaners when she asked me a question. it still never got cleaned properly - we then found easter egg wrappings under the lounge and under the cushions. the ironing board was only metal - no cover at all but two irons. not enough utensils - 1 mircowave jug. the hairdryer was just a travel one- i thought it was a toy. they didnt clean properly - so the covid clean they say they do doesnt happen. that to me is a worry in this day and age. they do well at avoiding and contact with you and answering questions. and as kingscliffe is a busy place they know they will always get people to pay money to stay there. they told me they would look after us if we stayed there again- i dont think so. the two bedroom place was in a good location, handy to everything. just a shame about their standard of cleaning. two other people were complaining when i returned the key about the standard of cleaning and they werent happy either. they are run by the same people who look after the paradiso resort, they manage a few places in kingscliffe.
