Our hotel room was infested with roaches. We saw one coming out of the shower and on the wall in the room. I paid 300 dollars for a small 2 bed handicap accessible room. Only to find out all their 2 beds are handicapped accessible rooms. We were in room 715 and felt disgusting after leaving our room having to empty and check all.of our belongings to make sure we didn't have any hitchhikers

The location of this hotel is exceptional, but honestly that is the only positive! Our room view from our window was of the other side of the hotel wall. We did ask for a city view when we checked in, but was rudely told no rooms were ready with a view. So we gladly took the room and didn't complain until we got ready to get in bed to watch television and the sheets were wet! I called the front desk and we were told to gather all our belongings and come to the front desk to get another room (no sorry...no we will send a bell hop to assist you, not anything!) So we packed everything up went to the front desk and were treated like a huge inconvenience to them. The girl didn't even bother standing up let alone apologize for sheets that were wet. Whether they just didn't dry them well or whatever the reason this is not how you treat paying customers and you sure don't expect them to sleep in a bed with wet sheets! Once again no apology just very indifferent. We were sent to another room once again facing a wall. I wasn't asking for anything free, but an upgrade or voucher for a free breakfast would have been appreciated and I would not have written a negative review. I understand things happen, but this is unacceptable! This is not Hilton standards and we were extremely disappointed in the lackadaisical response when reporting the issue. When I called to cooperate to voice my concern I was told that they had house keeping check the sheets and they were fine therefore they don't owe us an apology or any reimbursement. If the sheets were fine we sure would NOT have moved all our items at night to go to the exact type of room. Do better Hilton! We paid way too much for this room to get this type of service. Highly disappointed!

I planned a trip to KC to celebrate my partner’s 61st birthday. Being a Hilton family member I first look at their properties. The President looked like a charming place and I love historical buildings so I gave it a chance. After booking it I read several reviews and wondered if I made a mistake. I tried checking in at 1:30 knowing it probably wasn’t going to happen but mostly to park my car in the garage. The gentleman behind the counter made that happen so we did not have to find a garage in the meantime. We did not get into our room until after 4:30 but had found a dive bar named The Zoo so didn’t really care. I chose room 110 located on the mezzanine level and it turned out to be a great choice - larger than the other rooms and no need to use the elevator. We heard very little noise from the interior but did have some traffic noise not uncommon for a hotel in a city. The bathroom had a vent fan that turned on automatically upon entry. Odd that there was no fridge or microwave but we didn’t really miss them. We did enjoy a few cocktails in the Drum Room. Pricy but well made and the atmosphere was great. All-in-all we had a great visit and would stay again!

Came down for a concert - drove 5 hours only to find out my room was not ready, along with everybody else that was checking in around 4pm that day. I listened to the other lines of people being apologized to and the people at the desk saying they would apply 15% off and comp the parking and explaining the breakfast and other amenities. For some reason, the lady that checked me in simply said - ok we'll call you when your room is ready. I had to ask will I also be getting a discount and she said yes she was going to do that - lol, right. Discount was never applied of course, but I made sure to check out at the desk in the morning and ask for it. Also, I noticed people were getting breakfast vouchers (breakfast was $15) - I asked and never got any, I'm not sure why, but that was the least of my worries at that point. So, I ended up going to dinner and my concert in the sweats I wore in the car on the way down, since my room wasn't ready to freshen up and change and relax as I had planned on doing upon arrival. My room was ready about 6pm, which didn't do me any good. It was after 10 when I finally checked in - note - that where you park in the parking garage, the doors are always locked. They did not give me a card to get in, since my room wasn't ready, the app did not work for me, and the intercom didn't work at that door either - I was told it's 100 year old building when I asked about the intercom....so you either have to wait till somebody comes & goes, or walk around to the front door. There's a Starbucks in the hotel, but it's a joke because when I was checking out Monday at 10 am, they were already CLOSED! Why? The kitchen closed at 9pm when I came back hoping to get some food after my show, along with several others asking about the restaurant. There is a pantry of snacks (no food such as microwavable dinners, etc. though) and no prices on anything. I grabbed a couple cans of soda and a couple snacks, was not told the price (the same unfriendly lady that checked me in rang me up) and I learned later she charged me $20. I have no idea if that was right or she just put that in. Lastly the room, which upon entry I immediately noticed how hot it was - that's because the thermostat was set for 75. Took a long time to cool down, and even then didn't cool down to what I'd set it at. Other than that, the room was fine, except there was a big glob of something wedged into the drain of the bathtub. Feces? Clot? I don't know - I think the worst part is that the maid screwed the drain down on top of this thing, so I don't know how you could've missed that. Pretty disgusting. If that could be overlooked, it made me wonder what else wasn't really clean. It was late, I was tired, I skipped the shower and tried not to think about it. Really would've liked to have bathed, but didn't want to deal with whatever that was and was pretty fed up with what I paid to stay here and received this kind of experience overall. Beautiful location for a family wedding, unique building, and love the history. BUT the housekeeping is horrible. We requested that our room to be cleaned 3 days in a row. Our room was only cleaned once we got the manager involved and even then, we had to contact him twice. Stains on the furniture, broken toilet and never refilled the toilet paper. Definitely not up to Hilton standards! With so many other options in the city, I suggest you shop around!

I am a frequent Hilton customer and this was a terrible experience. Hotel is adequate and quaint but it was the rudest staff I have ever encountered at a Hilton property. From the person at the front desk (night clerk) to the manager of the coffee shop to the bartender - rudeness was the theme. By the way it’s one of the pricier hotels downtown. It’s very noisy from the outdoor entertainment across the street. It’s a good location but there are other hotels just as convenient to downtown. The rest of our family stayed at the Crown Plaza with a much better experience. I will not be back. Looking at other reviews the rudeness looks like an issue that needs to be addressed.

Good hotel stay overall. Early check in was granted for Diamond status with no fees. Given selection of a few different types of base rooms based on what I wanted, so that was nice. Room itself was standard but comfortable. Ample plug ins for electricity, comfortable bed and a lot of desk/counter space. Would have no issues returning.

Our son recently moved to Kansas City and we are new to visiting him there. The President was a great choice. This beautiful historic hotel in the heart of downtown Kansas City was a great home base for our visit. The location is excellent for walking to restaurants, attractions and access to the trolley. We will certainly be back. Thank you

This is a boutique hotel in KC that was probably refurbished fairly recently. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. It's a nice property. If you have a good deal and are looking for a place to crash, it's not bad. Major issues for me were a) the street noise and b) the lackluster breakfast and lack of major amenities (like room service - I'm not sure, but we were not able to get room service after 9 pm - there may actually be no room service). Room noise: You are near a major interstate and the noise is significant. But you're also in downtown KC, which can be noisy with sirens, etc. I was on the 7th floor and it was LOUD and made for a very unpleasant night sleep. Why they didn't invest a bit more in soundproof windows is anyone's guess. Because it's bad. Food: There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel, and I didn't try that. But the HIlton buffet breakfast was disappointing. It's the usual current Hilton fake breakfast food from something like a Residence Inn or a Courtyard. For my second day I actually just walked up the street to to the Lowes Hotel, which has an incredible breakfast. And yes, I recommend the Lowes 100% as a place to stay in downtown KC So if you're looking for more of a full-service hotel, this isn't it. It's more like staying in a lower-end property but with a nicer, higher-quality vibe and better rooms (and the rooms are really nice). In short: "meh".
